Every team in America has ups and downs. Even the best teams lose a game they shouldn't have or win but don't play well . This occurs throughout the entire year. Almost every game has spells where a team plays well. Some of you are naive. These same comments were said during the 60s and 80s with our best teams. Some people just don't understand the game. Some wanted Ralph Miller fired during a time when WSU was in the best conference in the country and were always competing for the title.

Although the second half got ugly for the Shox with scoring droughts and lazy defense, I wouldn't get too much bent out of shape. These guys have sucked on the road and are starting to learn how to play and win on the road. They learned not to take their foot off the throat and hopefully won't be so disappointing in the second next time around.

The misses really came from two people - Stutz and Murry (8 for 14), rest of the team was 12-16. In a close game where the team will be needing to shoot and make FT, Stutz won't likely be in the game.
Murray is off to a slow start from the line this year (65%), but last year he was 75% so I am confident he will come around.

Makes me laugh how many people won't be happy unless we win 150-0 and even if that were possible people would still get on shockernet and complain that our rebounding margin was not enough.
Great first half by the shocks, yes there is room to improve on our play in the second half but overall a good game for the Shockers. Whenever you can bring the walk-on's in against a team who is picked 3rd and has had a couple 20 win seasons back to back it is a good win in my books.
Now its time to leave no doubt against Alcorn

...I am glad that they carried the game though.
It looked kinda bad on my TV with the stretched screen.

Nothing of interest in the post game home paper coverage, but I did take this from the pregame notes in the Plain Dealer:
Cleveland State will face its first tough home-court challenge of the men's college basketball season this afternoon when the Vikings (3-3) host Wichita State (3-1).
"They're good," CSU head coach Gary Waters said of the Shockers after arriving back in Cleveland following the Vikings' 0-2 experience in the Cancun Challenge. "They're better than Virginia [which defeated the Vikings in Mexico]. They're strong and they have great guards.
"They don't have a guy you go to, but they make plays. They beat Iowa like they owned them and were with Pittsburgh until the last eight minutes."

Casual comments from the 4th row in Cleveland...
Cole was not in this game and a lot had to do with Clevin Hannah. He was in Cole's face from the get-go and it wasn't long before he was in his head too.
By the time Cole picked up his third foul, he was toast.
He walked off the floor and might as well headed to the locker room and fired up the uniform and jock strap washing machine.
I'm sure he had nightmares that evening of #3 in black tormenting him.
Gabe Blair is as impressive in person as he is on the tube.
He has a serious motor and also some bad ass tats. You know when he steps on the floor the energy level is going North.
If Cold was around, he would be posting some serious man-love letters.
Met Toure's parents and spoke at length. First class parents and you see it reflected on the court in #23.
Garret's mom does not like calls that go against her son. Randy McCall made a judgment call against GS and she went bonkers.
There's nothing quite like a Mothers love and maternal bond.
That is all. 8)Above all, make the right call.
