Tha game was not coached for a consistent 40-minute effort on the court. It was coached to get the maximum experience for players new to the WSU system.
I don't know, Aargh. What I saw were situations where the starters needed a rest so he played their backups. When I look at the minutes played and foul situations I see exactly what I expect to see in any game, with the possible exception of Manigault getting 13 minutes over Williams' 11. However, those minutes might have been reversed had Dmetric not sprained his ankle.

Hatch and Murry had to come out at times in the 2nd half due to cramps.

We had three starters play over 30+ minutes. Durley would have gotten more than 22 if he hadn't picked up that 3rd foul early.

That's how I saw it also. There is a big drop off in effectiveness after Hannah, Kyles, Murry, Hatch, Ellis, and Durley. I'm not sure how Williams plays into that. The good news is that KM, GB, and GS all have alot of potential and could close the gap.

This team has more talent top to bottom than 2006 imo. This might be the most impressive team talent wise in our history. Only one senior on this team?! I can't quit thinking about next year.

Sky's the limit for this group...it's going to boil down to desire to get the job done because the physical tools, depth and coaching are present already.

I think that they are heading to KC with a chip on their shoulders. I can't wait to watch.

Now go ahead and start bagging on me but don't try to tell me that 2006 went 10 deep with this kind of athlete?

By "our" history can I assume you mean your age group which has to be <25?

I'm 43 and I can't remember another WSU team that had 12 / 13 better players then we have now?

There are some teams that had three to five better players but not top to bottom better?

              I'm ready to be educated...

I'm interested in other posters opinions about the talent level of this team. I'll ask the question again. Would somebody name a team with better top to bottom talent than our current team has.

Surely I'm so far off base hear that several posters can name many off the top of their heads?

The final four team was deep.

I think its too early to tell Cap.

We may look back and say "Wow" but right now our bench has a lot of players that are new to DI (Williams, Manigault, Richardson, Hamilton), several that are still developing (Murry, Kyles, Stutz) and some that appear to be hitting their stride (Hannah, Durley, Ellis).

I hope by the end of the year we are talking about our trip to the dance, and how deep we are coming back and then make another run deep in the tourney. Then we can talk about history.

I hope Cap's statement is correct, I truly do but it's simply "too" early in the season.

First, let me say I really like this team. I was / am a gear-head and didn't pay alot of attention to WSU Basketball until around 1978.....There were several early 80's teams that were legit top 10 and maybe top 5 teams.

There were also several very high NBA draft picks in that group and others who got their shot in the NBA.

I don't know that we have any potential NBA picks at this time. I hope we do. When I saw AC, X, Dreiling, and CL play...it was obvious that they were NBA calibur athletes.

I do see alot of depth but not past 7 or 8. They are just too young and inexperienced. I'm sure they will develop and we will have a good shot at post season this year. Next year should be at least a top 50 if not a top 25 team.

In the 81-82 season (I believe) the starters were Randy Smithson, PG; Aubrey SherrodSG, HS All-American; Cliff Levingston, SF, Collegiate AA; Antoine Carr, PF, HS and College AA; Ozell Jones, center, NBA.

Off the bench was Xavier McDaniel, Collegiate AA; Greg Dreiling, 7-0 HS AA. That is 7 REALLY Deep players. I doubt we have two players on this years team that could match-up with the last two on the 82-83 team.

Many believe that the above team was not as deep as the 64 final fou team. I never saw them play, but from what I read...WOW! That team went to the final four and the TWO BEST PLAYERS were not able to compete due to eligibility running out (Stallworth) and grades (Bowman).

                                even my boy Cam Ledford
I cannot believe that anyone brought up this name from the past.

                                Please!!!!

Cameron Ledford could not carry the jock of Reggie Smithson.
