Absolutely not. Our sweet sixteen team had much more talent than this years team IMHO. Already I have a feeling this is going to be an inconsistent team, especially what I saw yesterday against FDU. I would gladly trade some of the players from this years team for another year of eligibility for Matt B, Cooz, Ogirri, Wilson, Miller, Martin, and K Brad

While I agree with your point about the Sweet 16 team, I certainly did not want to come out and say it as brash and dry as you articulated it to be.

The comparisons to the Sweet 16 team are silly. But we shouldn't be throwing our players under the bus like that. I think they have plenty of potential. While my concerns for this team are apparent, I think we owe em a chance first.

Talk of trading players for former players is just retarded and not necessary. Not surprised in the slightest that it came from you though.

Yeah fanmas. I love our current players and the 2006 team had to develop in 2002 through 2005. Hopefully, that is what we are doing now. Open contempt for current players who show great promise is dumbfounding.

wow, somebody pissed in ur guys cheerios tonight. i've never been on a forum where people take things out of context like you. don't get me wrong, this group we have no could be great, but they don't compare to the sweet sixteen team at all. i would love to have any of those players back from that team, even my boy Cam Ledford, best walk-on i've seen in a while. i just saw way too much inconsistency out of the team yesterday, against a team they should and could have beaten by a lot more. some of you guys need to take a major chill pill

Again, people shouldn't be comparing this team to the 2006 team. That was silly and it's way too early.

But for the same reason, why are you so quick to judge? The Sweet 16 team gets 4 years to win your praises, but your assessment for this team is based on one freaking game vs. Fairleigh Dickinson?

                My God, you're dense.

shockerfever, you are one to talk. best i can tell, not too many people like you on this forum either, that must say something. i'm not judging anything, except you being a hypocrite. so it's ok when you talk down on WSU teams, but nobody else can? all i'm saying is that no matter what this years team does, my favorite team will still be the sweet sixteen team. Even if this team were to make the final four, I just liked the group of guys when had in 06 so much. does that make sense now? it's nothing against the 2009-2010 team, I just have a strong place in my heart for the 06 team. ok? am I allowed to favor that team over this team? I hope for great things from all our teams. Just like in baseball, my favorite team will always be the super regional team from a couple years ago. I like the guys, and I liked the chemistry. yes, i like them even more than the national championship team from 1989. Do you get my point now? Ok, thanks, goodbye

Dense, dense, dense. You are seriously dumber than a rock.

Do you think I care if people like me or not here? That must be important to you if that's what you're fixated on. Pretty lame.

Oh yes, you certainly are judging. I'm making sound logical remarks. You, on the other hand, are blatantly blunt and a bit - scratch that - a lot over the top with your rambles and horrible observations of the current product. You're flat-out calling for CURRENT members of our team to be traded with former players. I would NEVER stoop that low and call out CURRENT members of our team like that. For the third f***ing time, I've said that the Sweet 16 comparisons are ludicrous and that I AGREED with you on that. But saying the things you say without any further explanation makes you the ignorant moron that you are. I can tell that you're nothing but an '06 bandy boy. I bet you couldn't name more than 5 players previous to the Turgeon era without looking anything up.

If you're gonna bring the constant negativity (difference between you and me.. I may not be sunshine 100% of the time, but I ain't a walking raincloud like your pathetic existence is), at least add some substance to it. You have the reasoning, rationale, and debating power of a 6 year old.

                    So dense.

I agree, that period of time was truly magical and folks could sense the possibilities. I believe that next season we could experience similar sensations. I'm not saying they'll make a Sweet 16 run, that takes some good fortune for any team (BS or non-BS program), but I suspect every program in the land will take this group of young men very seriously. It's a great time to be a Shocker!

For those of you concerned about consistency based on the FD game, I will give you what I noticed was very consistent.

In the first half, whenever the Shox led by 14-16 pts, Marshall put some players on the floor who need D1 experience or experience in WSU's system. Those less experienced players mostly held the margin about where it had been.

In the second half, Marshall subbed in less experienced players when the lead got past 20 or so points. Those players sometimes held the margin and sometimes let FD cut into the margin.

Tha game was not coached for a consistent 40-minute effort on the court. It was coached to get the maximum experience for players new to the WSU system.

That game could have been a 30-pt. blowout. The Shox could have scored 90+. Marshall did not coach for the blowout. I don't believe Marshall will get many blowout W's in his career, unless an opponent is so evermatched that WSU's bottom 5 players cannot avoid pulling away from them.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Agreed. After getting off to that 19-3 lead, the closest we let it get in the 1st half was 10 (that was with about 2:30 to play, and then we finished the half on an 11 to 4 run to have a 17 point edge).

In the second half, the closest it got was 14, and that was not until late in the half when we had already put in Bryce Mayes.

We opened with a great first 5 minutes, and never let the opponent get within single digits for the remaining 35 minutes. All this without our lone senior and while trying to give playing time to young players to get them experience.

I'm certainly not saying that we don't have things to work on going forward, but that was a solid effort start to finish.

Potential and talent wise this team is as good as the 2006 team, now do they reach the potential remains to be seen. Like i said in previous post, that 2006 team had awesome chemistry, which this year team has not reach and may not reach it. IMO one thing this team has, and which many will not agree with is Marshal is better coach than Turgeon is. Heres to a great season

Aargh, that is a great point. Most people probably didn't take that into consideration. It's good that we have a coach like Marshall that shows some class and gives his bench players a chance to play in a blowout situation. It was a fun game to watch for the most part, but there were times that were frustrating to watch. If that's the kind of "inconsistentcy" that we will have this season, I can live with that
