I feel the same way about Mr. Self... he's just a good ol' Okie.

I would agree. He has always seemed to give respect where he feels respect is due, regardless of conference / bcs affiliation. While I will continue to hate everything ku for the rest of my life (and beyond), Self is definitely no roy boy (thats about as close to a compliment I can muster for a man wearing that bird on his shirt).

I kind of like the fact that the two biggest dogs in the state don't play each other. Sooner or later they will meet in a meaningful game in the NCAA tournament.
There is no doubt in my mind that HCGM will have WSU setting the new MoVal standard for consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

KU and WSU will be playing each other more frequently than most expect-- in games more meaningful than state bragging rights. That's the way it should be IMO.

I begrudgingly have to admit (and it pains me more than you know) that Kansas looks strong for the foreseeable future, and WSU has a long way to go toward stability. However, you never know how things will go. In 1995 Nebraska had arguably the greatest team in college football history. By 2005, they weren't able to finish in the upper-tier of the pathetic Big 12 north. Same thing happened to Oklahoma at one time. You can't call that hell freezing over.

Just wondering, "is KU making a mistake by not playing WSU?" If they played WSU annually, while many of the games would be cometitive and even thrillers sometimes, I undoubtedly think the record wouold be lopsided in favor of the flock. On the other hand, if KU will not play WSU unless it is in the NCAA tournament, then that would mean that WSU has one of its better teams, which should provide KU a much tougher game. If the only games were NCAA tourney games, the record might not be so lopsided.

The mistake? By playing WSU annually and building a lopsided record, that might put a negative in WSU's mindset; if they play only in tourney games, that motivates WSU at a time when their skill set is higher.

I have to say: if it comes down to KU playing in Wichita and it ain't against the Shox, I would be one upset dude.

              That's just not right.

Good point, IM4. I don't even want to think about what our won/loss record would have been over the last 20 some years. But the odds certainly should improve during the next ten years when our teams are consistently in the NCAA tournament and we by chance meet.

Imagine how CU fans feel when they see a big red "N" in the middle of the floor at Qwest when Nebraska plays games there.

I get your point, but that would be like having a retarded bird or kitty logo at Koch, not IBA. So with that, I just laugh endlessly whenever that happens at sCUm's home court.

For the record, I too like Self. He's a pretty cool dude and isn't some *****.*

I'm tired of psychoanalyzing those paranoiacs up in Larryville.

And I could care less whether we play them or not. If they want to duck us, that's up to them. They call the shots. No matter who's coaching there, who the AD is, who the school president is, or who's sitting on the board of regents, they will always make lame excuses not to play WSU on any other terms except their own.

                      End of story.

The hatred of KU goes further than basketball. Lew Perkins buried the WSU football program because it was in bad shape, but a similarly situated program at KU had to be saved because, in his words, the "flagship university of this state" must have a successful football program. Then they start the elitist nonsense with basketball, yet we still play them in baseball.

But my hatred of KU goes far deeper than sports. The board of regents is a KU fellator and nothing else. Even Kansas State hasn't had a new regents building in 30 years. KU seems to get one every two years.

All these things contribute to the general KU snot-nosed trust fund elitist attitude that drives me nuts.

ku at IBA just another reason not to go to the new IBA
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

I agree. I dislike almost everything KU...but I do like Self. He's always come across as down to earth and legit. I think he still remembers where he came from (coaching Tulsa in the MVC).

I couldn't help but smile a little during that interview when he mentioned NOT playing in Koch Arena. He was pretty straight forward in mentioning he's had to come to the roundhouse before...and it's not something he would do again by choice LOL.
