Many have posted good ideas for improvement as well as constructive criticism.

The whole event structure should be re-visited.

Obviously, the main event is the men's game.

I believe it is the warm-ups to the game, which tips the balance whether folks go or no go.

Other important factors, already mentioned above, are date and time.

How about Whitney Houston for a warm up? (I know. I know, but I still think she has a great voice.) Surely, there is a Shocker celebrity, which will draw fans. (Other than Bill Parcells.) (Just a little humor.)

How about an alum game warm-up? Or the alums v. the varsity?

Cliff, X and Big Dog v. Stutz, David, Toure and Hannah?

My point is this. Come up with some creative programming and marketing. The current structure is not working.

Shocker Madness will draw the most ardent of Shocker fans such as those that populate ShockerNet. We will pretty much show up regardless of how they structure the program.

OTOH, a good portion of the fan base is content to read about Shocker Madness in the newspaper and occupy their time with other pursuits until the season starts. This portion of the fan base will probably continue to be no-shows regardless of what you do.

Can the organization, preparation and execution be improved. I would certainly hope so. Is the AD's office motivated to do that for a non-revenue event (OK they save some postage for those that pickup their season tickets)? Not sure. Would it make any difference in attendance? I don't know, I doubt it would make much difference.

Did I enjoy Shocker Madness this year? Yep! I don't think they could screw it up bad enough to keep me away. At least I hope they can't.

I agree. I am kind of worried about this season as it relates to ticket sales. I think the first couple of games are going to not be as "koch arena-ish" as we are used. I don't know why this is, but I think there is a general lack of excitement for this year compared to previous years. Yes, I think it has something to do with the AD not doing enough marketing. I also think season tickets will be way lower than in past years. Maybe only selling 6,000.

I hope not but one thing is for sure I will be there and try my hardest to get all of my friends to go on opening night.

Season ticket sales are well over 6k. I believe there are about 9500 available and I believe we should be near 9k right now. Not sure how many are still available.

I think that there are 500-700 season tickets left to buy. Of course, that is counting on 1000 student tickets already being sold.

Season ticket sales will be fine. I do expect, however, that turnout will be around 9k TOTAL each of the non-conference games. I also expect those crowds to be pretty quiet. People just aren't going to be juiced up with the home non-conference slate we have. The one exception may be Texas Tech since they have a name people know...even if they are one of the worst Big 12 teams.

Now once conference hits....it will once again be rockin at the roundhouse!!!

When I picked up my season ticketslast saturday, at shockermadness, I asked about unsold season tickets. I was told they had just under 400 unsold season basketball tickets left.

Worry Warts. We will have excellent and enthusiastic crowds when the season arrives. Bank it.

                    • 6,000 tix wsushox?

Where have you been man? We didn't even have that low of numbers during the Dark Ages of the Cohen and Thompson eras.

We will have close to 9500 season tix sold when it's all said and done - the maximum available.

I'd hope to think things will be a bit more enthusiastic going into the year compared to the last couple of years. This year the expectations are a bit more and we're coming off a strong finish to last year.

Apparently you were not at Madness or, like me, could not understand a word Don Hall was saying; however, it was clear that those seats with a white paper taped to the back were available for ppurchase as season tickets. There were not too many...I'd guess fewer than 500.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't understand him or about anything else over the PA system. I couldn't tell if it was his headset or the echoing that made it incomprehensible. Hopefully this will be remedied before the season starts.

                          • I personally enjoyed last years 3-ball contest, both men's and women's teams as well as pitting men vs women.

The slam dunk needs to be organized.

Something needs to be done with the PA system. I cannot understand a word Don Hall is saying. Or the DJ that did the dunk stuff.

The trick is to entertain but keep the total time to two hours. Since parking is unassigned, that means the usual late comers either don't come or come early, making the night seem longer for them than it really was.

                            • The PA was awful! It was strickly annoying loud noise. I even had problems, again, with the video sound. Mrs. Beggs' segment was the only one where I could understand most of what was being said. Don't know much about audio equalizers, but certain sounds, like Ss are over emphasized and sounds like a hissing snake.

Nevertheless, I would suggest that anyone on this board that had a problem with the audio, not just talk about here, but inform the athletic department of your concerns.

For audio experts, is this a treble problem, or was it just turned up too loud?
