I missed the Madness. I had to decide to get more work done or go; when my son decided not to go, I decided to work. (Deadline coming up and too much to get done. :( ) Sorry I missed a nice event (but I figured out some important details which will go into the code I'm writing.)
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I think that this is by far the most athletically talented bunch we've ever had at WSU from top to bottom.

The Valley will be very tough this year but as I said...we have a ton of talent.

Actually more than a ton if every player weighs 200 lbs on average.

        Hmm.

I have been admonished severely for comments like the above. Good luck in your crusade.

The comma after "correctly" is unnecessary.

The word, "over", is unnecessary. It causes redundancy.
The comma is not necessary but it is still correct. The author has the choice in this matter.
        Just poking a little fun.

          Hooray! Scrimmage baseball...

Hooray! Shocker Madness, an event that has been mind-numbingly long and boring recently! I can't imagine why I wouldn't want to go!

Seriously though, I wanted to go, but couldn't.
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

Brogdon is a player. One that would benefit WSU greatly.

Too bad only 4100 showed up to impress him.

Remember, everyday is a recruiting day. Get out and show your support. The next level is coming, but we can miss it.

Give those tickets you can't use to a friend, or donate them to Big Brothers Big Sisters, or Boys and Girls club or someone.

16,400 showed up in Lawrence to help woo 4 of the top recruits for next year.

Im not sayin, I'm just sayin.....
I agree and am surprised that it was as high as 4,100. That seems high.
In any case, I was surprised with the poor showing by Shocker fans.
I was embarrassed having such a high quality recruit in house, being sold on the Shocker faithful, a kid with schools like Auburn, Georgia, Virginia Tech, etc following him, and having only 4100 show up.

            W T F SHOCKER FANS!!
I agree our low turnout is disappointing for US. But, if you think those schools listed above had good turnouts during a Saturday scrimmage (during football season)...think again. I didn't do any real research, just my educated guess. Those schools are lucky to draw 4100 in February.

Virginia Tech averaged 9,414, Georgia averaged 6,700, and Auburn wasn't in the top 100 last year.

Wichita State was #42, averaging 10,095 fans.

              For comparison, Duke averaged 9,314.

Slightly misleading, since 9,314 is capacity at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Still, we were top-50 in attendence, in a rebuilding year. Statistically speaking, that means we were outdrawing well over half of the schools from BCS conferences.

Obviously those on Shockernet knew about this event. How was it marketed with the general media? The turnout seems low to me as well. Is this an AD issue with regards to marketing, or is it something else?

I don't recall seeing or hearing about it anywhere else besides Shockernet. But I don't watch that much TV. So someone else would be better judge of that. I do know that I don't recall hearing much about it on radio either...so seems like a total bust from AD to Marketing to Local Sports Hero's to fans not spreading the word.

I saw multiple ads in the Wichita Eagle promoting Shocker Madness, goshockers.com advertised the event, local tv promoted the walk for cancer. Seemed to me to be marketed okay.

It was a fall break for the students. So some of them went home for a four day weekend. Add in the fact that KU and KSU football games were televised and that is why there was low turnout.

I don't read the Eagle and don't watch a lot of TV. And what I do watch is usually on the DVR and I FF thru the crap. I didn't see anything when I did watch live TV and I never heard anything on the radio. As far as I could tell you had to be looking for it to find it. But I could be wrong.

I think we are seeing a lower than anticipated level of excitement this year, not only at Shocker Madness & ticket sales, but also here on Shockernet. In past years there was topic after topic about the new & old players by hundreds of posters. It seems like only the same few strong SN contributers are adding value to this year's excitement.

Please all: don't read too much into Shocker Madness. I know it's all we have to go on right now from our own eyes, so it's great to have some actual reports, but I'm not sure that anyone should change expectations for the season based on this exhibition.

An example: Scott Thompson's teams used to put on a pretty good exhibition. Take it for what it's worth.

Yes, sadly the 'other' KS schools' football teams in action didn't help attendance. As much as us die-hard Shocker fans love to hate them, many other more 'moderate' Shocker fans follow them too.

Vbird's right. There's not much to gain from Shocker Madness except fun, which it was.

I think I've been 4 or 5 years in a row now and I'm always left less than enthusiastic about the dunk contest. It seems like they could dress this up a little more than they do?

                                I don't know?

Dim the lights, keep the score on the score board. Perhaps organize it a little?

It seemed like a bunch of dudes standing around on the court for a few minutes, then one would attempt a dunk, then stand around some more.
