Derek Brown is back as a walk-on. He played with the 2006-07 team. He didn’t play basketball the past two seasons while at WSU. Marshall felt he needed another player and Brown volunteered.

How about ones that shoot well over 55% from the field?
Brogdon is a player. One that would benefit WSU greatly.
Too bad only 4100 showed up to impress him.
Remember, everyday is a recruiting day. Get out and show your support. The next level is coming, but we can miss it.
Give those tickets you can't use to a friend, or donate them to Big Brothers Big Sisters, or Boys and Girls club or someone.
16,400 showed up in Lawrence to help woo 4 of the top recruits for next year.
Im not sayin, I'm just sayin....."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Doc - Agreed with most everything you said except:
David Kyles was really, really good.
You answered your own question about why, at least I, didn't think Garrett was that good tonight with your next line about JT. It wasn't Garrett that made JT look bad tonight, JT did that mostly himself. Also, Garrett still fouled too much and missed several close shots over 4" to 5" shorter defenders. But yes, he is getting better.

In any case, I was surprised with the poor showing by Shocker fans.

But if we had done that, then it would have been blamed on HS Football.
If we wait til Sunday, then we could blame church or 100 other things.
Part of this blame falls on Athletic Department, part on Administration, but most on FANS.
The fans are the ones that didn't show up. Show much enthusiasm. Show our PASSION for Shocker Basketball.
This weekend was FALL BREAK!! How hard is it to look at a school calendar, figure out when your SCHOOL FUNDED PROGRAM needs its STUDENT SUPPORT and schedule Fall Break one week earlier or later so your students are there one of your two bread and butter programs?
This thing was poorly marketed, had no flair, and if not for the Shock Cancer walk would have been a total bust!
Time to step up. Expect more from our Administration. More from our Athletic Department. And especially more from fans who will gripe about being called "Mid-Major", but lay an egg on an EXTREMELY important evening in the continued rise of Shocker Basketball through that glass ceiling we all love to blame for our shortcomings.

I was hoping to see more from Hamilton. It was hard to tell if he's just not ready or he just didn't get the opportunity. As long as Ellis stays healthy Hamilton will probably redshirt. He will still be a fan favorite before he's done here.
I change my mind on Richardson. The kid can flat out shoot and physically he's ready. We can always use a shooter like that.
Kenny is a player and will play a lot. Defensively he's going to be a major pest for opponents. And if he can drive and find open teammates we'll be alright.
Williams didn't play and I expect him to redshirt. We have plenty of depth at guard as it is and if Richardson gets PT...
David Kyles stole the show and I'm expecting a good year from him. I've been saying that since the end of last year. He's got a nice shot with plenty of range and he knows how to attack the basket. Good times are coming.
Murry didn't show a whole lot but he's also not a flashy player. I expect him to be fine. But he wasn't as noticeable tonight.
Hatch is Hatch. I hope his shot is back. We do know he'll give us a hard nosed player that will leave it all on the floor.
Ellis looked pretty good I thought. As long as he stays healthy he can contribute. He does have a nice shot. Just needs to know when to shoot and when not to.
Durley will be fine. Didn't do a lot tonight but I'm not too worried.
Blair I think got a number of boards. If he can do that on the offensive end and get some putbacks it'll be nice. I'd like to see him get 7 or 8 points and 6 to 7 boards a game. We'll see. But he does give us a bit bigger and stronger presence inside and he is a pretty good athlete.
I thought Stutz looked pretty good. He's definitely improving but needs to finish. Hard to tell if he was fouled on some of those as he was on the opposite end and the officials were letting some things go. He'll get there and take another step this season.
Hannah was fine. He's the man who is going to lead this team on the court. You can tell he wants it. I just hope he doesn't have to jack up shots he shouldn't be taking this year as was the case at times last year.
I still think Durley and Blair will start inside with Stutz and Ellis coming off the bench.
If Kyles keeps playing like that I don't know how he doesn't start. I love Hatch but he may end up being a glue guy off the bench.
Murry and Hannah are the last two starters for obvious reasons. Kenny and Richardson will come off the bench with Hatch. I don't think that's a bad 2nd team at all.
That gives us 10 solid players and the ability to run fresh legs out there. We can redshirt Williams and Hamilton. I don't expect to see Felter, Brown or Mayes on the court unless we're blowing someone out.
I felt bad for Mayes when they had him run the point. Especially when being guarded by Kenny. That just wasn't fair to the poor kid. He hadn't seen anything close to that while playing for Oxford.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

The dunk over the Chopper also got the crowd going. If you got it on video, Kyles would love to see it posted on YouTube.
“I hope somebody does, because I didn’t get it,” he said. “Maybe I’ll do that next year, run down there and dunk with a camera in my hand.”

I wouldn't have guessed anywhere near 4100. WSU fans don't practice like they play.
I'm excited for the team but not excited about the WSU production of Shocker Madness. I'm glad that they could somehow raise some cancer money though.
I remember the conduct of the WSU basketball teams of the 90s. As a student I wasn't a fan. If I were associated with KU I would have similar thoughts about recent issues and they drew 4 times as many people as we did.
I'm excited about the shocks and think that the fans and administration both have some making up to do for last night's effort.Phi Alpha
