For those of you with U-Verse, I hope its quality stays with what you start out with. I've read horror stories of how the quality of U-Verse has gone down as the number of subscribers in the neighborhood scale up, especially with HD signals. I've also read of awful customer service stories with U-Verse. The same could be said of Cox, I'm sure, but not in my experience. Since we moved to our current house and had a new cable drop installed from the neighborhood node, we've had minimal issues or downtime with our Cox service. I'm sure its just like cell phone service - one person who has had great service from a company will know of at least one other who has horror stories.

I made the switch because I could not stand the customer service at cox anymore. With cox, our local channels and either history, military, or military history channels never came in clear. Now, the local channels I can typically do without, however, not so much regarding the history and military channels. It was the same story at my dads house, inlaws house, as well as a number of friends. Eventually we all got to talking and found out that when the cox man came out to "fix" the problem, we were all told the same thing. The cox guy would hook up a hand held device to the cable line and then say "well, the problem isnt on our end. Must be interference from something in your house." When the cox guy visited my dads house, what he didnt know is that my dad worded for cox at the time and knew how to use all of the equipment. My dad said the guy never even turned the hand held device on.
So as soon as U-verse became available in our neighborhood, I switched and have had no issues since. And as ShockerFever said, more channels for less $$$, which is always nice. That rug really tied the room together.

I have been away from Cox for 6 years, but I remember the hellish customer service in the previous 10-15 years. It was just awful.
When I moved to my current home, which is in the semi-country, Cox did not service my area. However, their trunk was only 1.5 blocks away. I asked Cox, when they might be servicing my block. Cox said they would do a study for me. The catch? Cox wanted $50 for the answer. Morons."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Things I love about U-verse:
1) Being able to siultaneoulsy record 4 shows at a time on DVR.
2) Managing DVR online.
3) Wireless internet throughout my home
4) Free wireless AT&T coverage at AT&T hotspots - McDonald's, Panera & other places.
5) More TV channels and better reception (none bleed through)
I'll be interested to see where prices go after the first year. But so far I couldn't be more impressed with U-verse.

Ditto on all 5 of BostonWU's points (managing DVR online is great!). I'll add a few more...
6) Watch DVR'd shows on any TV
7) Free long distance on home phone
8) Wired internet access points at every TV
9) Cheaper!
....been awhile since I was on Cox so not sure if they have this
10) On Demand Weather, Sports, Games...etc.
11) Channels that Cox doesn't have (i.e. HDNet)
Cox was basically the only game in town so long that they didn't put in the effort to upgrade and make customers happy. I switched because several of my friends did and told me how much they loved it. I know quite a few people who are just waiting for U-Verse to be available in their area and as soon as it is, they're switching.

Did anybody get ESPN360 to work? I clicked on "Watch Now" and a new about:blank window opens up, but nothing else happens. On the status line I get a "Waiting for " followed by the web address.
This link on the Cox Support page says my system meets the minimum requirements.

I'm not a big Cox guy, but just moved back home to Wichita. The upside: I will get KN22. The downside: it's more expensive than what I paid in Kansas City with Time Warner.
I made a call to att for info on U-Verse. They do not offer service in my area of town, and said they have no immediate plans to change that.
