I have lived in KC, St. Louis and the Baltimore / DC area and have been to see the Orioles, Rams, Chiefs, Royals, Redskins, Cardinals and Ravens on several occasions.

I made the mistake two times of paying for the $10 parking 10 blocks away as opposed to the $30 parking a couple blocks away. The first time was at the then TWA dome at a large parking lot during a preseason football game. The game finished at 11pm and we were nearly mugged a half block from our car. Just as a group of 10 or so young men were closing in on us near the projects we rounded the corner and a came on our car with a group or 20 or so people continuing to tail gate after the game. I've never looked at parking the same way since.

The second time was at an Orioles / Yankees game which was rain delayed. We were headed back to the $10 garage at 10:30pm fortunately with a group of six other people. While waiting at the cross walk to get into the garage, two street people came up to us and urinated in front of us while we waited to cross the street.

Since that time I've always ponied up for the $30 parking because my families lives are worth it. I have never seen police near these outer lots which doesn't seem to surprise me much.

Big difference between walking in Baltimore/DC and walking in Wichita!!!

I am glad you and your family made it back safely each time though!!

You should have flashed them the secret sign of the Van Buren Boys.

Pay $20 to a neighbor boy to drive you to and from the arena.

Take the shuttle from the Colosseum parking lot. <giggles> Just kidding.

Rent an apartment at the Shirkmere for the season. Then just walk.

I work in Old Town. Think I won't go home on weeknight games, leave my car where it is, and walk over. It's not too far - maybe one block over and 4 blocks down. If it's REALLY cold, may have to reconsider. I'm one of those weak, spineless ones that don't like the cold.

The Old Market is about the same distance from the Qwest and many make the walk. Also, some of the Old Market restaurants/pubs offer free shuttle service as a way to attract pregame and post game patrons. It actually works pretty well.

Ya, that is the same thing that will happen here. They've already said that they will run shuttles between Old Town and the arena. There is plenty of parking in Old Town. Go down early, have a bite to eat and a frosty beverage, take the shuttle to the arena, go to the concert or event, take the shuttle back to your car. Seems easy enough.

Yep. I suspect the Old Town shuttle is the best option.

                    Walking is not bad either.
