I have lived in KC, St. Louis and the Baltimore / DC area and have been to see the Orioles, Rams, Chiefs, Royals, Redskins, Cardinals and Ravens on several occasions.
I made the mistake two times of paying for the $10 parking 10 blocks away as opposed to the $30 parking a couple blocks away. The first time was at the then TWA dome at a large parking lot during a preseason football game. The game finished at 11pm and we were nearly mugged a half block from our car. Just as a group of 10 or so young men were closing in on us near the projects we rounded the corner and a came on our car with a group or 20 or so people continuing to tail gate after the game. I've never looked at parking the same way since.
The second time was at an Orioles / Yankees game which was rain delayed. We were headed back to the $10 garage at 10:30pm fortunately with a group of six other people. While waiting at the cross walk to get into the garage, two street people came up to us and urinated in front of us while we waited to cross the street.
Since that time I've always ponied up for the $30 parking because my families lives are worth it. I have never seen police near these outer lots which doesn't seem to surprise me much.
