  • Downtown Arena Game

Just got in on the back end of the report, but this morning 1410 said WSU WOULD play a game in the new Arena (with a possible purple opponent). I thought the Arena wasn't going to get finished until January -- so maybe they were talking about 2010-11 season. As I said, I got in on the tail end of the report. Maybe someone else heard it all and can fill in the holes.

        Silence

I've been asking the most hardcore KSU fans I know if they have heard anything about that, and even they are completly clueless. One of them did say though, it all depends on how much respect the two schools have for one another when it comes down to scheduling. The way I see it, KSU might demand a 2 for 1, but WSU would never add another Iowa State like KSU is to our schedule for the next 3 seasons. What would be the point of that?? It wouldn't be strange if the WSU and KSU meet up in Janurary or after either. Stranger things have happened in Kansas.

Yah, but normally the non-con is wrapped up by then.

                    Not so bad

Also, don't forget, Mr. Coy will be elidgable to play after the Fall semester. So if there is any real chace of a WSU vs. KSU showdown at Intrust, it would be to WSU's advantage because we'd be at full strength with Coy finally on the roster. I would rather play KSU with every bit of help that we can get instead of being without Coy.. KSU seems to be in flux anyways. They missed the NCAA tournament last season cuse their RPI was terrible, so now Frank Martin has to be legit with his scheduling. Frank's job may be up in the air if they don't go to the NCAA tournament this season. So not only does KSU have pressure on them to schedule tougher teams, they also have to win. So that maybe a problem for WSU too I suppose, KSU might overlook us cuse of that pressure I just mentioned and if they don't... They're playing to win every game this season and probably save their coaches job. But yeah, a 1 for 1 sounds best, it'll be interesting to see what plays out.

Guys -- I didn't say that it WAS K-State -- just that the hosts of the show were speculating that it could be "purple clad". But the January bit is what threw me, because as has been mentioned, our non-con schedule is already set for this coming year and I know that Marshall (like most coaches) doesn't want to interrupt conference play to schedule a non conference opponent because it is so disruptive to the flow of the games. If someone knows someone at 1410, maybe they can find out if I even heard correctly this morning.

I would hardly believe Frank martin would go anywhere after this year unless he takes another job somewhere. I highly doubt his job is in jeopardy.

Now with that said the K state game is only speculation. Nothing concrete was ever given as reason other than we played a scrimmage against them.

Perhaps LSU? Trying to think of Purple teams. Or is that supposed to be on their turf?
