Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self announced Thursday that guard Tyrone Appleton and forward Quintrell Thomas are seeking to transfer following the spring 2009 semester.
Hello Henry Brothers
And possibly Daniel Orton...
Odds on a KU - UK National Championship game next year?

Marshall needs to get on the horn and get Quintrell down in Wichita. He'd be the athletic post presence the team has been looking for since Xavier.

I assume everyone has recovered from the possibility that Wendell Preadom could have been our starting point guard last year if the status quo was acceptable.
Or that Wendell could have played out his 'ship and we might not have had Reggie - acceptable.

If he isn't good enough to get playing time at KU, what makes you think he would be that good for us? Usually, a player transfers because their game is lacking in certain areas which keeps them from being a complete player for their position.
Do you really think Hawkins would be transferring if he could hit outside shots? I can only recall 2 outside shots that Hawkins hit all year, 1 for a 2, 1 for a 3. Irregardless, it must have been a tough decision for him to transfer with only 1 year left.
I can understand Reggie wanting to transfer though.
Well, Thomas was playing behind the Morris twins. In 17 minutes against NMSU he scored 10 pts with 7 boards. 15 minutes versus Albany resulted in 6 pts and 5 boards. Give him consistent PT and he probably fares pretty well.
After a year of practicing at KU, followed by a transfer year, I suspect he would be at least as good as Jerome Hamilton.
The question is, does it make sense to bring him in along with JH? If so, I'd foresee a pretty fierce battle for PT between them in two years.
Lately, transfers to WSU from upper end conferences and good teams (Wilson / Bradley) have worked out better than transfers from lesser conferences and teams (Thomason / Hawkins). That being said, I'm optimistic about Blair and Coy.
Thomas's accolades in HS (top 50 - 100 nationally I believe and a Scout 4 star) and his performance in action (albeit limited) this year would lead me to believe he could contribute at WSU. If Hamilton redshirts they would start their WSU careers at the same time but be in different classes. If Hamilton doesn't, they'd be in the same sophomore class in 10-11. I would sure take him. If this were a year ago, he might be one of the highest rated recruits we'd had in decades.
Between Hatch, Murry and Kyles we're alright. Hannah and Mannigault can run the point and the other three can rotate between the 2 and 3. Hell, you could even run KJ at the 1 and let Hannah play the 2 if need be with one of the others at the 3. Options aren't limited.
