Even though Arizona is a higher profile basketball school than most from the BCS, we're starting to see the $2,000,000 mark thrown around more and more. It will interesting to see who Xavier hires and for how much.Comment

This is not Iowa, not Oregon State, not Georgia. It's a very high profile school that has won a national championship in the not too distant past and believes it ought to be cometing for a spot in the final Four on a regular basis. Most coaches in most conferences, including the so-called power conferences, would go for the Arizona opportunity at the kind of salary we're talking about here.Comment

I'd have loved Pastner under Marshall too, but I don't think I'd want him over Marshall. I do think he'd be a good hire for someone like...let's say K-State. I just think if you're an established program like Memphis, I think you could do better than a "recruiter". Pastner could very well be the "next big coach" though, considering he's only 31. Even though Pastner is only 31 he was coaching when he was 15. He had a business in his early teens breaking down game film. He only sleeps about 3 to 4 hours a day. The rest of the time is devoted to basketball. He graduated from UA after the first semester of his junior year. He takes the type A personality to a new level.
Only time will tell how he does at Memphis, but if he fails it won't be because he didn't give it 100%Comment
