    Bummer
Even the really good non-BCS schools can't keep their coaches from bolting to the bigger conferences. Double Damn.

Even though Arizona is a higher profile basketball school than most from the BCS, we're starting to see the $2,000,000 mark thrown around more and more. It will interesting to see who Xavier hires and for how much.

It'll be interesting to see what happens at Zona post Olson. Can Miller get them back to the top? Or will they return to what they once were?

          Oh well

          Well now, don't overreact, 21.

This is not Iowa, not Oregon State, not Georgia. It's a very high profile school that has won a national championship in the not too distant past and believes it ought to be cometing for a spot in the final Four on a regular basis. Most coaches in most conferences, including the so-called power conferences, would go for the Arizona opportunity at the kind of salary we're talking about here.

Altman to Xavier? I mean they are both Jesuit institutions and all.

Josh Pastner will be introduced as the next Memphis coach...

Pastner is known as an elite recruiter from his time at Arizona, where he played for and assisted Lute Olson before joining John Calipari's staff last offseason. This is his first head coaching job

If I was a Memphis fan I don't think I'd be happy with that hire...

If I was, I would be. Would have loved to have seen Pastner join WSU staff under Marshall. He will keep 4 stars coming, and when he lands that 1st 5 star again, it will re-establish them and Memphis will be back in Final Four.

I'd have loved Pastner under Marshall too, but I don't think I'd want him over Marshall. I do think he'd be a good hire for someone like...let's say K-State. I just think if you're an established program like Memphis, I think you could do better than a "recruiter". Pastner could very well be the "next big coach" though, considering he's only 31. I just don't know if I'd take the young risk over an established veteran if I was Memphis.

They tried to lure a couple established veterans. They couldn't get them, even offering big money.

They got the best they could.

It's so nice to see the recession hasn't affected the big money game of college basketball coaches.

Even though Pastner is only 31 he was coaching when he was 15. He had a business in his early teens breaking down game film. He only sleeps about 3 to 4 hours a day. The rest of the time is devoted to basketball. He graduated from UA after the first semester of his junior year. He takes the type A personality to a new level.

Only time will tell how he does at Memphis, but if he fails it won't be because he didn't give it 100%

No but periodic in-game collapses due to lack of sleep might contribute

What are Pastner's chances of keeping Xavier Henry at Memphis? I assume he is the one who recruited him.

Could this be a promote Frank Martin to keep Beasley situation?
