I don't see any reason why he can't win at Kentucky. And I also don't see any reason to think he'd have to take any kind of paycut to go to Kentucky.

RDR...MT is in no danger...the water isn't even luke warm. A small group of BG lovers can't let go. A basketball 101 class would go a long way with that group.

If that is true, it shows you how stupid the A&M folks are.

MT has won two of A&M's total eight NCAA tournament wins of all time. For you liberal arts majors, that's 25%. Gillespie has three tourney wins at Tex A&M.

(They've been to the tourney 10 times)

My guess is, if Billy Clyde is let go, there will be alot of restless folks down in Stoolwater!

...Travis Ford will get the UK job. He knows the fanbase and the culture of the program and what it takes to win there.

note from a friend of mine in Kentucky, I asked if the rumors were true.

"From all indications it appears they are. I am not much of a UK fan (more Louisville). But he is like a fish out of water. He is pitiful in front of the media. Really looks inept doing interviews. UK takes such pride in their players not saying "you know" on camera that they force all their players to attend training sessions on media relations. He really looks like a Gomer Pyle in front of the cameras. He might be a good coach, but he is really a hayseed in public."

MT also won the most games by any Big 12 coach in his first two years in the history of the Big 12.

As the Democrats have proven in spades, emotions rule over logic.

2/8 = 0.25, move the decimal two places to the right, 25.00%

I remember the calculation because I was a C.E. major.

i really like turg, but i think it is always a bit misleading about how many games a new coach wins right away..a bunch of that has to do with the cupboard effect, i believe.

I agree. Or vice versa, how many games a team loses because of the bare cupboard effect.

Molly...A&M isn't loaded with "players". The cupboard wasn't full. The cupboard went to the NBA and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. A vast majority of the minutes collected by A&M players this year were by individuals that either never or barely saw the court for BG.

That record means that MT has collected more wins at A&M than Self did at KU during his first 2 years and I certainly wouldn't say MT was left a cupboard comparable to KU's.

Don't follow A & M at all. You are saying that MT is winning games with players that MT recruited?

Top scorer Sr Josh Carter 4th year at A&M averaged 8.3 and 11.8 pts per game for BG in 31 and 34 games.

2nd leader Donald Sloan averaged 5.2 pts per game for BG in 34 games.

in 31 games for BG Bryan Davis averaged 1.9 pts a game, he is the 3rd leading scorer this year.

4th leading scorer averaged 1.7 pts per game for BG in 22 games.

the 5th leading scorer was a player who never saw any time for BG.

Care to compare those to WSU players?

And MT coached 70 games in his first two years compared to the 63 that Self coached at KU in his first two years. And those 7 extra games only got him 2 extra wins. Want to compare winning percentages? Big XII games? Can we compare schedules between the two coaches?

No...but a majority of kids he's playing Billy wouldn't let see the floor or he didn't ever coach (Holmes and Walkup) along with Harris and Loubeau (The only MT recruits on the roster). There's a differnce between skilled basketball athletes and athletes that play basketball. BG's recruits were usually athletes that played basketball.

The class coming in next year has been hailed by some Ags as the best recruiting class in A&M history.

All I'm saying is...Any Ag that's saying Mark's seat is hot...Isn't close enough to even take it's temp nor on speaking terms with the guy who heats or cools the seat (Bill Byrne), because he'd laugh them out of his office.

MT inherited a team with an NBA first round pick at point guard and an incoming recruit that he had to convince to stay who ended up also being drafted in the 1st round.
