If Eck adds much talent to next year's roster, they should be pretty good. Scheduled returners:

    PG Darius Johnson-Odom (21.6 ppg, 4.7 apg)
    F Dominique Rutledge (8.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg)
    F Tom Shirley (7.8 ppg, 5 rpg)
    G Lazarius Johnson (5 ppg)
F Javari Williams (5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, was a redshirt so not sure if he'll return)
C Everson Lacerda (Redshirt transfer from Colby. Not sure what his situation is but averaged 7.2 pts and 6 rebs as a frosh)

So they potentially return 48 ppg plus Lacerda's 7.2 from Colby.

Ok can someone "in the know" with the juco scene explain to me how this inst a lateral move? I'm gonna plead ignorant. Is hutch that much better? Recruiting, facilities, whats the draw?

Hutch has a lot of tradition.

        - 2 National championships since 1988
        - Though dwindling, still good fan support
        - Sports Arena (As I understand it, most juco facilities are glorified HS gyms, at best. The Sports Arena seats 7600 and I would still love for WSU to play an exhibition there.)
        - Hosting the NJCAA tournament

And as I mentioned before, it's a job I know Eck has coveted. IIRC, he grew up in Haven and attended quite a number of HCC games.

            He was a qualifier?

Hmm, apparently he passed the NCAA clearinghouse within the past few days.

I'm not sure how a non-qualifier out of HS suddenly gets qualified after one year of juco. An appeal, perhapse?

He will have 3 years eligibility left. So apparently either he qualified late, and decided to go JUCO instead of trying to choose from those who had open spots, or something new only those BCS schools are aware of....

I read an article after former HCC coach Swanson resigned and Johnson-Odom was clearly looking toward being at Hutch next season, telling me he only recently was declared eligible for D1. And there are people on the Marquette board who also say he only recently got cleared.

"only recently was declared eligible for D1"

Interesting. Like to know how that happens at the end of your 1st year of Juco.

And who is going to be in charge of forwarding that info to Coach Bess.

                          Hmmm

I don't think it's Coach Bess who wants to know, DSB. He'll be happy with one year of Orukpe. It's our guys who need to know what the magic formula is.
