Yes, let's not feed the troll...

I predict the Shox start kind of slow but the crowd fires them up and we hit our free throws down the stretch to win comfortably 69-61.

Don't worry.. the troll has been banned.

And that isn't even the funny part. The troll is a 'bigtime' Omaha media 'mogul' who obviously can dish it but can't take it.

This is simply untrue, you couldn't even hold Creighton's jock strap let alone be its rival. The truth is Wichita State is not good enough to be Creightons rival. And people in Omaha don't really care when Wichita comes to town because its not a big game. We don't blue out or white out for you, like you blacked out for us, because your just not important so find a real rival who cares when they play you. A whole paragraph devoted to a non-rival? sCUm had a whiteout a couple years ago for us. It's no surprise that your biggest crowd this year was the game against WSU...

I appreciate the Buffalo fans input. Ut displays humor and sportsmanship. Cleveland St and Creighton fans could learn something. Cleveland St fans did come around I guess. I wish them well.

Creighton is not our rival? Ok, fine by me. Creighton loses a couple of games to us and comes unwound.

It seems to me that we have this season to worry about.

The last regular game of the season and the final home game for Nate Funk Anthony Tolliver Nick Porter and Manny Gakou .

Take a gander at the "Whiteout" in 06-07.

In fact Wichita State holds two of the top 10 attended games at the Quiet Center.

gojays must have a lot of free time after filling out his "March Madness" bracket.

After the initial confusion settles down, most Creighton fans surmise that all the extra dates and bracketry are a typo and the tournament really is just one night long.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Bluejay fan is just pissed because even though we are in a lesser tourney, our stock chart was pointing up at the end, while theirs is definitely pointing down.

Now, if they pork their first round NIT game. Who knows where the bottom is....

Wow, 50 minutes to absolutely demoralize an entire program.

                Sucks to be you!

Fellas, you let that goofball totally hijack this thread.

Has anyone done any research on Buffalo other then their record? Have we ever played Buffalo before?

One previous meeting in 1997, we were the winners 79-69. They are very guard heavy in scoring. In fact their top four scorers are all guards. One of them stands out above the others. Rodney Pierce is the only Bull averaging in double digits. He scores 14.3 ppg and shoots 35% from 3.
As a team they shoot about 34% from 3. We shoot about 32% to compare. Although they are guard heavy, it isn't all from 3's. We shoot more 3's per game than they do.

Thx Shoxfan - I was looking over the team and noticed something odd ...

None of their big men seem to get a lot of minutes. Kind of a "by committee" approach it looks like.

:poster_ramon: will be fired up that he gets an encore at CKA. It sounds like Buffalo is a good rebounding team, but they have not run up against us yet. WSU will come out the victor tomorrow night.

I think I recall that ’97 game. IIRC they had a Wichita player on that team by the name of Scott McMillan from Bishop Carroll. I know Scott played D1 ball at a small school back east right about that time. Maybe a Bulls fan can verify if that is correct.

Didn't one of Cohen's assistants go there? Thats where the BC kid got the connection to Buffalo if I remember correctly because the assistant's son coached at BC during his dads days in Wichita. Trying to remember his name. His son still lives in Wichita but doesn't coach anymore but was on Faber's staff.

The WSU assitant coaches name was Tom McCorry, he may or may not have been an assistant at Buffalo but I think that was the BC connection if my memory is correct.

                                Buffalo

As I mentioned previously, the Bulls don't shoot as well as WSU does, which is noteworthy, because the Shocks are by no means a great shooting team. Buffalo is a little better on threes, at 34%, and worse (!) on FTs at under 65%. They outrebound their opponents by basically the same margin as WSU does, and they score a bit more (65.1 to 62.4), while giving up 62.3 (vs. 61.9 for the Shocks).

There have already been a number of references to their top scorer, Rodney Pierce, but possibly their scariest guy is their second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, Calvin Betts (listed at 6-3 and 225 on their roster), who has hit 39% on 100 threes. Somebody will have to keep an eye on him away from the basket while keeping him off the boards. They also have a Chamberlain-sized (Reggie, not Wilt) backup guard named Sean Smiley who plays just 10 minutes a game but averages taking two threes and hits 40% of them.

Crowd note: except for their conference tournament championship game, played in front of 9000+ in Cleveland's NBA arena, Buffalo has not seen a crowd of more than 6000 this season. What they encounter in Wichita is likely to be their biggest crowd all year, and (one would certainly hope) the loudest.
