  • Was Washington that last Pac-10 team to visit Koch? Or did they not return that trip?

    • Any doubt as to whether the shox would want to play in the tournament should have been erased last night. For all the player's families, friends and recruits that don't get to make it to Wichita to see a live game, last night provided an opportunity to see the Shox live on national TV. The arena looked great, the crowd was insane - my wife kept telling me the turn the TV down but I couldn't hardly hear the announcers. The team looked really good and I for one am glad we have a chance to play in a series of nationally televised games for a change.

          • The announcers gushed all night about the crowd and the venue. They were also in love with Ramon Clemente and his hard-nosed style of play. They couldn't believe this Shocker team started the conference 0-6.

            • Will this Stanford game be on Cox Cable?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

              • What a game, I have to agree with everyone here in saying the crowd was amazing! Now I can't wait to see us up against one of the "big boys" now that we're playing well.

I think we should hang a banner if we happen to win it all. I mean why not? There are some decent teams in name and talent in the tournament and to win it all you have to beat four of those teams at least 5 times. Seems like that would be an accomplishment anyone but George Steinbrenner would be proud of.

I don't really understand anyone who has said anything negative about WSU participating in this tournament. What is there not to love about this? The season could have ended on a heartbreaking, last second "loss" to Creighton, instead we get the chance to see our favorite team play at least two extra games. There are few things that match being a part of Shocker basketball games and that's true regardless of the stature of post season tournament we find ourselves in. I'm sure I echo the sentiments of most posters on this board and I'm sorry if I repeated someone elses' idea, but I feel nothing but excitement about watching this team continue to play!

                • Not sure if this has been posted yet but its always interesting to hear the report from the opposing teams paper. I loved hearing what the coach had to say about the crowd. Take a look.

The loudest place he has ever been to, and it was missing almost 4000 people. What'd he thought had it been packed?

The only thing I think of with Stanford coming in is that if we fall behind (like we have been known to do), it can get awfully quiet in CKA. So I say, let's not fall behind and then we can get really loud. It was fun, fun, fun to be out front all game. Let's do it again.

                      • I think the 6,700 that showed up last night were the noisemakers, as it didn't sound much quieter than the full barn.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

                        • Question: If we are fortunate enough to win this next game, then the CBI reseeds the final four. If there were no other upsets, we'd be the 3 seed of the final four. Is it possible in the semi finals to host as a lower seed as we are in the quarters? If there is an upset in either of the games involving Oregon State or Richmond, then we'd be the 2 seed and it shouldn't matter.

if we bring in the money.....how could you not give us the home game--even if we were the lower seed??? just a thought.

I posted early on that I thought it would be like the UAB game last year, and I was right. THe people that showed to both of those games were the people that REALLY WANTED TO BE THERE.

                              • $$$$ Question: The $60k cost to get in... is that a one time thing or each game costs you $60k?

Because if it is a one time thing, we are making out like bandits.

3000 tickets covered the cost, everything past that is split.

So last night the revenue from 3600 tickets was split. Monday let's just assume we do no better and it is still 6600.

That is about $102,000 from tickets for WSU. Now, if we can get 10k buying tickets? Holy moly.

We get another home game? Good grief! And another?! $300,000 extra dollars for the university is never a bad thing.
