I was talking about our last year's team when I said we swept you. I was comparing how our last year's team was very similiar to your team this year. I apologize for the mix up.
You were officially 2-1, actually 1-2, against us this year. See even you are so scared of us you can't get your facts straight.
Nice catch. Totally overlooked that. Not only did we take the series from them, but we gave them their second worst loss of the conference season.
Oops, indeed.
I hate to be the one to point this out to you guys, but he was talking about the year that Dane Watts was a senior, which was last year. And speaking of those games, the losses were by a combined total of five points and both without the heart-and-soul of our team, Matt Braeuer.
Some extra advice for you, CUstudent. To your credit, your posts here as a student member of a rival fanbase have been fairly decent. Just make sure you don't let the digs at your school, coach, team, mascot and fans influence your posts. Those comments aren't directed at you, per se. But when you post on an opposing team's message board, you will receive a good measure of those comments. Just ignore them and stick to the issue. It's what I have to do when I post over at the ParrotPerch (there's one of those digs I was talking about) and SalukiTalk (I can't bring myself to dig on ST. It's run by some good guys).
EDIT: Whoops, I guess CUstudent clarified it while I was typing this one up.
CUstudent, thanks for dropping by and giving your thoughts on this situation. Like a few have said, it's probably too early and the wound is still too fresh for us to have an honest discussion about what happened this weekend. Both schools can admit that we have a few DBag fans that ruin the reputation of us all. I had run-ins with both sides of the fence with Creighton fans this weekend, unfortunately the bad experiences tend to be the ones that stick out.
As far as your question of "Why do you think CU fans are afraid of WSU?" I don't think that many of your fans are afraid of us, but I think they should be and I do think that your coach already is because he can see the system that Marshall is installing starting to take shape. You can just see the fear in Dana's eyes. To the majority of your fans, SIU is your only rival, but I'm confident that you will have a different take on things 2-3 years from now. Coach Marshall really gets under the skin of CU fans and it's going to be fun to watch this rivalry grow over the next few years.
Dana=CU and Gregg=WSU....it is no surprise there is friction. Mix in a media douchebag like Perrault who tries to make it worse and we going to get even more of the same.
Plus, and I am dead flippin' promising you, when we start whippin' their tales on a regular basis (sooner than later) it will get really ugly.
Of course, then all the Nebraska fans will go back to being, well, Nebraska fans and say it doesn't matter anyway.
Personally, I think Creighton is going to drop off quite a bit next year (4th to 6th). The loss of Woodfox is huge not only from a contribution standpoint but also from a defensive one. He shot nearly 50% from the 3 point line so that had to be guarded. With the danger of the outside 3 gone teams can pack it in versus them.
Also he was a 87% FT shooter so you know he got the ball late. Now the guy you try to get the ball to is about 10% more likely to miss.
Personally I don't think Creighton was THAT good this year....especially given it was a down year. I just didn't see too many "game changers" that they will have for next year unless some really get better over the summer. I guess Carter would be the guy that they will look to....but I dunno if he'll be enough. I was more impressed with the other young players on a few other teams.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
CU getting to the NCAAs brings WSU a bit more money and helps the MVC's national profile.
On the other hand, there is some satisfaction from their 44-minute collapse and potentially having their bubble burst at the hands of one of our former victims.
