Sorry if this has been addressed; we've just returned from the Screw in St. Lou and I haven't had a chance to review all the posts. Don't some leagues (the Big 12, for one) allow the officials on the floor to start the clock? Why doesn't the MVC? Other than the obvious: one more opportunity to screw the team you don't like by deciding things the way you want them to come out.

This is not how it is done in The Valley because they Larry Bird didn't need the clock started by the official, and if Larry Bird didn't need it then no one needs it that way!

A BUDDY OF MINE DID THE SAME THING ON THE VIDEO EXCEPT HE STOPPED IT WHEN THE CREIGHTON PLAYER FIRST TOUCHED THE BALL AND STOPPED THE CLOCK WHEN IT HIT ZERO. THE BALL CLEARLY HAD NOT LEFT THE PLAYER'S HAND IN TIME. IT HAPPENS SO FAST, YOU CAN'T SEE IT UNLESS YOU STOP THE VIDEO AT ZERO. THE THING I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW ERIC SAXTON SAYS HE SAW THE VIDEO AND THE CLOCK HAD .4 OF A SECOND ON THE CLOCK WHEN THE BALL LEFT THE PLAYERS HAND. NO WAY! EITHER ERIC NEEDS GLASSES OR SOMETHING ELSE STRANGE IS GOING ON. IT'S OBVIOUSLY OVER NOW BUT THIS IS A DAMN SHAME. THE VALLEY'S REPUTATION JUST TOOK ANOTHER DIP IN CREDIBILTY - WAY TO GO DOUG!

Because that's what they wanted him to see.
It all depends on when you start the clock, which I guess is obvious, but there are apparently some who think that when the Elgin showed this to Sexton and Lutz, he started the clock after Woodfox had control of the ball, rather than when he first touched it.

My wife (not a huge sports fan) just made a great point after watching Haertl finish up the broadcast calling Shocker fans conspiracy theorists: "Do you think that commentators or anchormen would be this calm if it happened to KU?"

I viewed his comments as close as an "unbiased" broadcaster can be to saying that WSU has been royaly pounded by the conference this year. And, yes, we have. Haertl is a Shocker fan. The only thing he'd be doing if this had happened to KU is trying to conceal his glee.

Besides KU hasn't been in a position where a shot like that would effect thier post season chances in a long long time.
I'm no KU fan, but jeez

I must admit that I thought it was good and in time until this video. The fact that Woodfox caught the ball, then pulled it around and took a dribble and started a 2nd dribble before the clock ever started has me now believing that we did get hosed.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

If Hannah grabs the loose ball with 1.9 seconds - Game over.
If WSU does a better job of preventing Woodfox from ever receiving the inbounds - Game over.
If Murry guards Woodfox better after he received the ball - Game over.
If WSU doesn't screw around for the first 25 minutes of the game - Game over.
Woodfox made a great shot and CU won - Game over.
The tape conspiracy may make some feel good on here, but it's so close...
Besides, I'm not going to get into the issue of 00's, lights and horn.
WSU made a fantastic come back and deserves a lot of credit. But if they played as hard during the come back for the first 25 minutes, they win the game by 10 points. It's a 40 minute game - not 1.9 seconds. 8)Above all, make the right call.

Oh ShockRef, you took the bait! You go girl!
IF the Ref would have made the right call, Game over, WSU wins. The right call is that Woodfox took 2 seconds, so they did a good enough job guarding the inbounds. It was a great shot, just took too long.
There is no conspiracy, just yet another blown call by refs in a league that can't be bothered to have simple timing upgrades that conferences like the Big XII have.
By the way, if Murry would have been any closer to Woodfox, odds are a foul would have been called to send him to the line. Except maybe not because refs stop working in the last 10 seconds.
