      • Just noting some fun stats since I can't sleep:

        vs. MSU, 18-21 FT, 85%.
        vs. sCUm, 15-18 FT, 83%.

Wish we had that all year.

        ... No really, deuces.

        • yea, Ramon found his FT shot once again at the end of the year.

Any time I think about poor FT shooting I think back to the UMKC games of the last 2 years.

          • Just one last thought before I take two alprazolams, a shot of whiskey and go lay down in bed.

When TM got the ball, my laptop slid to the floor. As soon as he shot it, I went down on my knees. When it went in, I cried in joy, my arms went up, and I just made noises.

But I heard my wife say "It's just a game." Some people ... some people just don't understand.

            • Illinois State got the matchup it wanted in today's Missouri Valley semifinals.
              ...
"It's great because it makes preparation a lot easier," Illinois State coach Tim Jankovich said. "Our guys will remember half of it off the top of their heads, and they will, too. If we played Wichita, there'd be a lot more to think about.

"We're fortunate in that regard. We're not fortunate to have to play Creighton, but we won't have to spend 15 hours trying to figure out what they do."
Sounds to me like Jankovich just gave the shox some props. At least that is how I'll read it. I'll take anything right now.

                  • Just some fyi stuff:

sitting here in saint louis drowning my sorrows in an early morning Joe.

Dipping in on some conversations of valley fans around here sitting close by.

Everyone feels like we got jobbed. MSU, ISU, Bradley people. I just heard some folks saying things like, "yep, and of course they didn't start the clock." "The Shockers should have won."

Heard several really complimentary of Marshall. They think we have a great coach. I agree.

I think the feeling is mutual among Valley fans when it comes to Creighton. But everyone around here is talking about our game. It's nice to know that they see what I saw.

Crushing. But all the Shocker faithful in Stl were very classy after the game. We have great fans!

The Creighton chumps have no idea how to win with class. Truly amazing level of entitlement. The dudes next to us were trying to get me to put a Funk jersey on my 6 year old. Nice!

                    • Pretty well officiated game, I thought. Officials kinda swallowed their whistles at the end, but thats pretty much par. We need to get better, get smarter, get stronger, get taller at the perimeter.

                      • MEDIA: Dana, I'm pretty sure Wichita State's contention is they're going to wonder if you got that shot off in the 1.9 second allotment. How did you see it?

COACH DANA ALTMAN: Well, I don't know. I haven't seen the replay or anything, but it went in. I -- I don't know. I think it had the time. I mean, two seconds is a lot of time. He caught it, put it down, got
                        it up.
To the Media - WSU fans don't wonder if CU got the shot off - we know he did not.

To Dana (Get a Boys Name) Altman - your are a liar he did not catch it, put it down, got it up - he tipped it in the air, then grabbed it, then turned, then dribble twice and did nto get it up in time.

I guess tonights ending was sort of like the old NBA rule - 3 to make 2 except in seconds instead of shots.

                        • 2 seconds IS a lot of time. Enough people here have looked at it for me to determine that it is a dead issue for now.

What I would like to know, and I really want SR or 22 to clarify or correct as needed, is how the play that got us to that point unfolded.

I fully admit that I was screaming like a mad fool after Toure's 3. I assumed CU called a timeout at first. I only caught a glancing glimpse of the goings on under the basket. What I think I saw was the lead official NEVER stop the clock. Perhaps one of the other officials stopped the clock. The clock ran out and he signaled game over.

Now if nobody stopped the clock, can they review and say "yes the clock should have stopped because the ball went out of bounds and should have 1.9 seconds on the clock"?

Could they also determine who should have the ball? I never saw anyone point to either end of the court signifying whose ball it was. Is this a reviewable point?

Again, these are and were at the time, my points of contention.

I await a breakdown from those that can review tape and know the rules.

                          Thanks!

                          • I guess my point is if we have to allow reaction time to start the clock then why do we not have to allow reaction time to stop the clock.

                            • It's going to take longer than I originally thought to get over this.

Is there a player out there more a "front runner" than P'unk Stinnett?

When things are going good he is athletic, involved, aggressive and showcasing his huge talent.

When things are not going his way his dissappearing act makes Houdini look like a first time hack.

The hand behind the head dunk was so typical....and classless.

I would really enjoy beating his ass 6 times the next 2 years. Probably won't happen .....I doubt he will be able to stay in school that long. 8)

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking about. If you're gonna stop the clock dead on when it goes out of bounds, then you better start the clock dead on when it gets touched. It has to work BOTH ways in those type of end-game situations.

Doc, the ball clearly was off Clevin at the end. All he had to do was hold onto it and we win. Instead, he acted like he wanted to just dribble it instead of pick it up and hold onto it. That was a pretty big mistake.
