Is there an ignore function for Shockernet? Not just for SF, but for all the posts that bring his posts up (Including this one)... The broken record is destroying a decent board...

In this case a great majority of threads would be ignored since SF’s content is all over the board. I agree with the sentiment that this place is slowly morphing into ValleyTalk-lite.

One suggestion I might offer is to add a warzone-like room which would allow for SF and his ilk to trash all they want. If a thread gets hijacked into a pissing contest (which is happening more and more everyday) then it gets moved into the warzone. It’s a great way to separate the trash.

You can't have a "trash talk" forum. It will not be utilized. You also can't have a separate forum where you transfer threads that have gone awry. This gives the instigator too much power to move threads that he/she wants to move.

If a poster's "personality" is too big for a forum it can get very tiring. Especially if said poster has copious amounts of time for posting.

I personally don't think it is a good idea to intentionally cause strife amongst your own group of fans. Perhaps I am not the best person to make this statement, but when I attack it is because I feel strongly about an issue that affects our university. I usually don't attack fellow Shocker brothers just for the sake of smack-talk. I also DO NOT like the disrespectful references towards our older posters. Part of what is wrong with this country is that we do not respect those wiser, and older than us.

I don't think it does the Shocker Nation any good to have its membership calling each other nubs for posting a positive prediction to the season. Reality is reality, but in a perfect world, each and every Shocker fan would EXPECT the best every season until they are proven otherwise. To expect mediocrity or less; is not successful, it's not productive, and it's not even American...

One thing an admin keeps in his back pocket is the option to deal with posters who are more of a disruption than a contributor. I offered SF some advice in another topic which should be taken into serious consideration.

The difference between SF and KC, in my view, is that KC picks his spots and doesn't hammer his points over and over. When criticized he responds once (usually) and leaves it at that, without going on the offensive. SF, on the other hand, blankets the topics he posts in with the negativity and then criticizes the optimists unendlessly.

SN will not turn into VT.

The ability to transfer threads into the warzone strictly lies with the mods. And if there's no activity there then the pissing matches would just die a quick death and/or not start at all. It seems to work for our putty tat friends. This is just one suggestion and think Royal is doing a fine job and deserves an immediate raise. :good:

There is something the posters can do.

Ignore trolling posts. There's no "Ignore" feature and that's probably a function of the board itself and there's nothing Royal can do about it.

Just ignore trolls. Don't feed them. Don't respond to their posts. Don't acknowledge their presence or existence. Don't disagree with them. That's the one thing trolls can't stand - the inability to bring attention to themselves.
