I feel it necessary to advise you that extreme/eternal negativism is a close cousin to bandyism.

Any unbiased person would have this game at 50/50 with a slight advantage to the Shox because of our recent strong play.

All of those SIU home losses give me hope for our Shox on Saturday. The team still has to show up & play good ball, though & prove that they can play well on the road, too.

We have never won the tourney since its moved to St. Louis.

We last won the tournament in 1987 on Tulsa's home floor, if I recall, as we did in 1985 with X man.

Our 1987 team was likely to get an at-large bid, I think our 85 team was less likely to get an at-large bid.

All that doesn't mean anything all...

umm, as I posted earlier, I agree.

There is no reason we can't win three in St. Louis.

And the fact that we haven't had success makes it more likely we will have some; the streak can't go on forever.

Our youth is a downside, but our bench and wonderful run over the last three weeks bodes well for a good showing in the MVC tourney.

My first response was no way...

But we do have a deep team, and different players showing up to pick up the load. It's possible. Everyone has to play a similar number of games if they win. Only Bradley has swept us in the top group. I don't think these guys are ready to end the season yet.

Having said that SIU is looking pretty decent tonight against Drake. Let's focus on getting that win and finishing two games over .500 for the season. Then on to Arch Madness for some Shox and Awe.....

Anything can happen in a tournament, but the thing that makes it unlikely for the Shocks is their youth. This young team can play very good at Koch with 10,000 screaming fans behind them but like most very young teams they have trouble self-motivating away from home. I'm not saying it's impossible, but they are probably a year or two away. That won't stop me from hoping though.

I really don't think Shocker history has much of anything to do with this current team. Hell, look at how they have bucked MVC history already.

If we stay out of a play-in game we have as good of chance as anybody with the exception of Creighton. In fact we probably have a better chance then five other teams. As for Creighton, they are currently playing near pre-season expectations.

We have been playing like a upper half Valley team for several weeks. A win at SIU will help take away much of the concerns about playing on the road. But the tournament is on a neutral court. We are 1-2 against teams that are better than most, if not all Valley teams.
