  • Ok, back to the game...

What was with our post D, especially when Mo State was getting the lead in the first half?

More than once a defender would make like he was going to block the lane to force Mo State's 00 or whoever was driving for them to make a move / pass. But the instant the person with the ball made a step, the defender backed off. Then all he had to do was shift his weight and he would have a clear look at the lane.

More than once I thought "A ha! Stopped him there! Oh wait, nope, wide open lane."

It wasn't that the offensive guy had sick moves and could twist and turn around the defender. It was just that the defender flashed in for like half a second and then was gone. All the offensive guy had to do was just keep going!

I think the replay showed him clearly making contact with the body as he was making contact with the ball. I think my argument would be that the MS player had lost control of the ball and was trying to regain control after he had made an ill advised attempt to drive the lane. should of been just two guys going for the ball or no call at all. I wouldnt call it the worst foul of the game.

The Durly charging call....Someone correct me but didnt Bruce Haertl call that a good call along with his partner during the replay?

"dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

      • Did anyone else see the ball that Durley chucked 1417ft up in the air, smack that older lady straight up side her head?!?!

YIKES!! That one is definitely gonna leave a mark...

        • I just finished watching the game and dind't really notice the officials that much. I wish I could have been there but being a Tuesday night I had other obligations.

Murry is a freaking stud. Needs to cut down on the TOs though. That will come with more experience.

          Durley is playing quite well.

          Kyles is coming around.

          I love watching Hatch play.

Sorry Doc, but that charge on Ramon was a no brainer.

I can see the argument for the one where AJ dove for the ball but can't really complain about it being called. When I saw it during play I was a bit upset by it but the replay showed there was definitely enough contact.

Nice to see the young Shox stick with it and pull out a win despite playing fairly poorly. Effort is there by smarts is sometimes lacking.

I have to see a replay before I admit I am wrong. Maybe 96 could post it for us.

It was RIGHT in front of me and I anticipated the slide.....never thought it was anything but a and 1. I cannot believe he got there before Ramon took it to the hoop.

I'll admit when I am wrong but I really have a hard time believing it here without seeing it first.

              • For part of one season Aubrey got to use the 3-point line. If I remember correctly, it was experimental to be used during the preseason and both teams had to agree to it.

                  That's called dynamite service with a smile....thanks 96.

I will apologize for the "worst call in the history of basketball". It was closer than I thought at the time, a testiment to the tough job that officials have every day. However, I will still contend that it was not a good call no matter what Bruce and Craig said......that was a bang bang play and perhaps the best call would have been a no call. Randy was a bit too full of himself then and all night, imho.

                  • I've watched it 5 times and it WAS a good call.
Those of you upset about it can ***** all day long, but the call was correct. Was it close.
                    Yes.
                    But was it right?
                    Yes.
There is a simple question in terms of the proper call.
Who beat who to the spot?
In this case, although close, Laurie beat RC there.
                    End of story. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

                      • I missed the basketball hitting a spectator in the head, all I saw was the following bounce and roll down the crowd.

                          Doc,
I appreciate your acknowledgment regarding the difficulty of the job.
However, a 'no call' in this instance would have indeed been terrible.
One of many P.O.E.'s this year has been to clean up train wrecks in the paint.
The mandate has been consistent - Blow the whistle.
Whether you call a charge or block - Blow the whistle.
Flops are a different story, but if there clearly is contact - Blow the whistle.
                          Thank you. 8)

                          • What about the no call when an MSU player passed the ball to HIMSELF!

I wasn't watching which foot was his pivot when he threw the pass, but I can't imagine he kept it in place while catching his own pass, even though it was a short pass.

I have to disagree with you on this one. It looked horrible, but I don't believe his feet moved between the time he let go of the ball and when he caught it again.

I hate to miss the chance to hang it on a ref, :D but saw nothing wrong with that play.

                              • In person, I also thought the charge was one of the worst I have ever seen. From my vantage point, it was an 'and one.' Then again, I am not an official.
