  • The short referee was definitely not that great.. I didn't mind the other two.

    • This Shocker team may be the death of me before the end of the season. I couldn't make it down for the game tonight but I was watching on 22. MK and Coach need to start calling Toure - "CLUTCH" What a freaking player he is!

GO SHOCKS! :goshocks: :goshocks: :goshocks:

      • There was a storm in town, also. It barely missed the Chuck and may have skeered of a few.

        • Just got home from the game. I'm posting this before reading the thread so I'm sure I will probably duplicate observations already made.

Most obvious is Toure "The Ice Man" Murry is one confident young player.

Shocks were very lucky to win tonight. Thank goodness for MSU's FT shooting.

JT continues to get better, doing a good job of playing within the system and team concept and hitting the boards hard

If Clevin and Reggie are not hitting threes they are somewhat of a liability IMHO. Neither seem to have the ability or to keep an opponent in front of them, including the last 5 second rush down the court by Spencer Laurie.
Clevin almost handed MSU the game with a bad, bad turnover near the end of the game.

Personally, I thought the best line up on the floor tonight was the group of Durley, Clemente, Hatch, Kyles and Murry at the end of the first half. Unfortunately, we only saw that group for 1 possession during the second half.

Big win in that we still have the chance to avoid the play-in round in St. Louis.

It's always a good thing when the parking lot chants are going. :good:

              • Don't know if it's already been mentined, but when MK asked HCGM about the last play he said that it was drawn up different, but we got EVANSVILLED by Missouri State and had to make do with what we could get.

                • I have no idea how Gregg did not get T'd up tonight.....Chris and Earl almost had to fight him to get him settled down.

Did anyone see what happened when MSU had to take a TO because they couldn't get the ball in bounds and Shocker manager Ryan Mahoney came running off the bench to grab Hatch?

It was almost like he was trying to keep Graham from getting into a fight.

The charge on Ramon may have been the single worst call in the history of basketball. That group should be good but they were totally inconsistent tonight and made poor calls both ways tonight.

To say Gregg was pissed would be akin to saying the sun is kinda warm.

He should really thank his assistants....they saved him tonight I think.

I told you guys Toure was going to be good....when will you start listening?

                  • I hate to disagree with Rosewood, but I was guessing the actual crowd at around 9,500. Upper 1/3 of GA was sparse, particularly behind the band, but past that I only saw some scattered empty seats.

Randy Burns had a couple of game-winners as a Fr - to address a question earlier in this thread.

I thought the UE refs were worse than tonight's crew. Tonight's crew had some very obvious blown calls. The UE crew changed the way the game was played, but only for one team.

Chamberlain at PG isn't working well. Moving Murry to PG sin't a solution. That takes him out of the things he does well offensively, and Kyles isn't ready to take that role yet.

The bad officiating went both ways. One possession Durley laid a shoulder into Knapp twice. Backed Knapp up about 6" each time. Then Durley gave Knapp an elbow to the gut and moved past him for about a 2' shot. Durley was dribbling while doing that. Good to see him starting to show some aggressiveness. Maybe the ref was screened and Durley picked that up.

This is not the way to win ball games, but it works.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                    • worst call was the one on AJ when he dove for a ball that was being fumbled by the MSU player. He was 2 feet from the player when he knocked the ball away and got called for the foul.

                      • Officials were bad. Went both ways, though. We did get a couple of bad calls down the stretch

                        Hawkins' on-ball defense sucks.

I like the new Durley much better than the old Durley.

I hope Kyles gets more minutes.

Hatch really gave us a lift in the first half. I expected him in the game sooner.

Weems really looked good. What was the name of his partner who went bad?

                            • Worst call of the night was when there was a loose rebound and a bear leaned into Ramon nearly fell on him in the corner and McCall called a reach or something on Ramon for his third foul.

As someone else said, high school basketball.

Anyways, proof is in the pudding. http://flickr.com/photos/ilrosewood/3270111749/ was taken at the National Anthem. http://flickr.com/photos/ilrosewood/3270097975/ is tip off.

When I made my estimate, there was ~ 5-6 minutes left in the game so more than a handful of people had left. When I made that comment, people were leaving. Those gaps that are in those shots did not fill up.

There were easily a couple thousand seats open. Many sections had multiple rows open. The first two rows (on the floor) of the next section past the bench stayed open the entire game.

It really was a sad, sad crowd.
