Since "Evansville, Drake" was not in quotes, I assumed he didn't actually mention those two teams by name. I assumed that was the author giving examples.
Otherwise that coach is a retard for giving an interview and mentioning those two specific teams without realizing we just beat those two teams, destroying one of them.
It says from a list - sounds like he had some prospective teams written down and WSU was not on it.
It's good locker room material for us, but really, if the roles were reverved, we would be feeling screwed as well.
That coach is right, this game does not help them one bit. No TV, a win won't increase their RPI, a loss will hurt them. I guess the only positive for them is that they gain road experience in a hostile environment.
Maybe just maybe ESPN doesnt have thier heads as far up thier arses as many think.Could they see what serious Shocker fans see? a team on the way up? a team that is capable now of defending thier home court against ALMOST anyone? (i did say almost).Someone at Cleveland St must owe someone at ESPN money cuz homeboys are getting sent to an ASS WHOOPIN.
I like basketball, cuz if i wasnt for Basketball,i wouldnt be playin Basketball today
I don't think anyone here disagrees with some of the stuff this genius coach said. It is a crummy matchup for Cleveland State. Hell, it is a crummy match up for Wichita State.
But the guy is off his rocker in his reasoning, expectations, and everything else.
Most importantly, he showed no respect. He didn't even show that generic coach speak respect. Think back to any good coach's comments in some of the early season games. They always talk about the opposing team's strengths vs potential weaknesses. The matchup may be completely lopsided but a good coach, at least publicly, would show a lot more respect then this guy.
I really really hope our guys can do what we have seen them do recently at home. (and do it to them back in glorious Cleveland next year)
Maybe the Cleveland St. coach was hoping to get a match up with one of those teams that have a higher RPI than us, but both lost to us at our place? One we beat as the game was running down, the other got spanked. If they come here and lose I guessing it's no post-season for them. Then the bracketbuster becomes true bracketbuster and we bust all their hopes and brackets. I'm not sure maybe they still have a shot if they win the conference tournament.
He is right. It's a horrible game for them, win or lose. What's the problem with saying that?
Nothing. But I would expect the coach to show a tad bit of respect for his opponent - something to the effect of "we're being sent to a very tough barn to try and grab a win." Oh and perhaps mention of the tough Valley tossed in with a reference to the not-so distant Sweet 16.
I'd be pissed too but show a little respect and class.
I’m pretty sure Chris Allison was reading straight off this thread on the radio this morning. He was reading the direct quotes from the Cleveland newspapers article and wasn’t sure if their record was 15-6 or 15-8 (probably due to 8) that was inserted).
I think that’s cool but what would be even more cool is if he sited he sources…seriously give SN its due and you’ll be well respected around here.
Average of 11.6 wins per season. Not exactly the juggernaut that coach makes them out to be.
"Average" probably isnt the best statistic to use with those numbers. The 19 and 21win seasons would skew the accuracy of the measurement. Median is probably more representative
21, 19, 12, 10, 10, 9, 8, 4. That gives 10 wins per season
So, based on that....they're up a little this season
