Yup, Southern BCS coaches are falling and of course, Marshall has been mentioned. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN A THING. Just a writer throwing out some well known names and our coach wasn't even in his top ten possibilities. It was a Scout writer talking about the open Alabama job. Georgia is also open.

Originally posted by tropicalshoxI was somewhat reluctant to post it but I figured most Shocker fans would want to know if Marshall is getting mentioned.
It is demeaning to our program to even discuss a coach and the possibility of leaving, unless it is by termination. The only way a thread should be started on Shockernet that references any coach of ours leaving is if they have made a public statement that they are interviewing. Only then should we face the reality that our coaching job is being looked at as a "stepping stone".
You obviously are another one of those "fans" that grew up in the 90's who subconsciously views Wichita State as a mid-major stepping-stone. It is always a "certain" type of fan that starts these kind of threads and most have birthdates that fall in the 80's.
If only they made a pesticide that would eliminate this small, mid-major infestation in our beloved fanbase.
You have been warned.
That is all.

Gee, thanks but I'm afraid I go back before Dave the Rave. Like I said I thought most fans would like to know what's going on in the world. I don't think Marshall wants to go anywhere. I don't think we are a stepping stone and I look forward to Marshall leading us back to where we were a few years after I became a fan.In the fast lane

Those of you that post on subjects that demean or marginalize the prowess of the Great Shocker Nation have no idea the impact you are making. Those of you that "enjoy reading" such topics are as much a part of the problem as those that author these types of threads. There are certain kinds of personalities (loser personalities) that enjoy looking at the darker side of life. These people hide under the title of "realist", but in actuality they are just people with very little self-confidence or self-esteem. These people feel like failures in their own lives thus expect everything that is important to them to eventually hurt them.
You will never hear of a successful person that goes through life expecting failure or predicting failure. Successful people predict success and they make that happen by their actions which result from their frame of mind.
Stop selling Wichita State short and others will as well...

Or, Cold, we can start new topics each time we want to say we are behind the coach, the coach is in above his head, or we have a feeling we're gonna win. Who would start such threads each time we feel like it? Look at me...I think very highly of myself and my opinion.
You're a$$ is mine if we ever meet in person. But my guess is you never get out of your parents basement. You've been warned.
Trop - thanks for posting.

Lots of coaches from all different sizes of schools will be brought up for all varieties of coaching vacancies. To put your hands on your ears and say "don't talk don't talk I can't hear you" is rather immature. I personally hope Marshall stays here for a very long time and I know WSU has the resources to keep top notch coaches as long as they want to stay. The best programs in the country got that way from having stability at the top.
On the other hand, it really grates on my nerves when WSU fans get themselves worked into a frenzy every time our coach gets mentioned in a coaching search - not saying that's the case with this one, just a good time to bring it up. The fact that this thread has taken the tone that it has goes to show that this is a very sensitive topic for us at WSU. We've been through 7 coaches in the last 20 odd years. That's a really bad run and the main reason we haven't been able to stabilize our program. Granted, at least 3 were not the right hire, but I think the WSU administration is smart enough to recognize we need to do whatever it takes to get and keep the best coach for this job. Marshall is the guy and he's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

I hate to bump this thread, but are Altman or Lowery being mentioned for vacant coaching jobs?
Once Marshall gets us to where we, he, and the team wants us, he's going to be mentioned for every BCS opening. We may as well get used to it now.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
