    Bowles to James Madison

I hope he does well in the CAA.

Bowles resurfaced at James Madison, visiting the school Tuesday and starting classes less than 48 hours later.

"I felt immediately this was the place I was going to spend the rest of my career," said Bowles, who averaged 1.7 points in two seasons at Texas A&M.
You may recall that when DB committed to WSU, he did so on the spot. MT visited him, and DB committed right away. Sounds like he doesn't always take his time to make a decison, then regrets it later. An interesting trend.
Brady envisions Bowles as a major contributor once he steps on the court next season. Along with current freshman Alvin Brown, Bowles will be the Dukes' tallest player.
You have to wonder if this will be the case. Will have to watch his stats next year. Something tells me no....

I wish the kid all the best and maybe getting a little closer to home and back in a comfortable environment will help him succeed.

Remember MT's comment about Bowles during the last half of our last season with MT. Something to the effect that Mark was "dreaming about Bowles coming."

MT obvioulsy THOUGHT Bowles was a great talent. When he left for A&M he had a scholarship to give; hence when Bowles wanted out of his commit to WSU, Mark let him come to A&M (I am sure still thinking he was a great talent). But Bowles proved not to be the caliber of player MT wants NOW at A&M (because we all know you can recruit better at a BCS shcool  ). Once he had a chance to evaluate what he really had, I bet he decided he had better players (but Bowles was already there); thus Bowles sits on the bench. I feel a little sorry for the kid. I think his previous coach filled his head with the "you can do better than WSU" crap and he bought into it; thus wanting out of his commitment to WSU. When Mark left, Bowles had his chance. Now the kid has to start over somewhere else. Bad decisions all around.
i wander if thats why mark chose to get out when he did. i think he was struggling with the constant search for talent that wanted to come to WSU's level and maybe starting to make some questionable calls on kids. i know baker is hurt this year but he wasnt exactly lighting the world on fire. sampay would have been no more than a role player. now bowles, he looks nothing like the athletic player he was in high school. looks like a log jam in the middle. its a little easier to go look at top 150 talent and know they are going to be pretty good players. i think he has signed two top 100 players for next year if i heard right.

Why MT ever got involved with Spinelli, I'll never know.

Parting ways with Boyle proved to be much more harmful to the program than was ever expected (even though he ended up at a low level D1 program).

I don't want to tarnish MT's reputation, but has anyone compiled the total contributon of all of MT's recruits at WSU for his final two years here?

Would we really have had a team lineup of Ryan Bradley, Bowles, Sampay, Wendell Preadom and Gal Mekel if he had stayed? Look at where they are now and what they are producing.

              Welcome to Wichita, Gregg Marshall!

"I think his impact will be significant," Brady said. "There are not that many top-75 players in the (Colonial Athletic Association)."
                ...and there still aren't.

Sampay looked like a placeholder at best, and confused at worst on Wednesday night.

Most of us thought he was the cure for our "Barely Alive Without a 5!" 06-07 season when he verballed here, but as time has shown, he would of just brought more questions.

I'm wondering how Bowles is suddenly a top 75 player? He was a 1 or 2 star recruit and then signed a WSU and became a 3 star. Someone got in his ear and told him he was too good to go to WSU, maybe Spin talked to him on his way out, who knows. He then used Turgeon leaving as an excuse to ask out of his LOI.

Turgeon did something that Huggy, Self, and certainly Marshall wouldn't do. He allowed a recruit he recruited on someone else dime to follow him to his new university. I hope the young man finds a better group of people to listen to, the present group have cost him two years of eligibility and he is probably worse off than if he would have honored his original LOI.

When Bowles was signed with us, he slowly eeked up to a 3star, but as soon as he signed with TAMU, he suddenly became a 4star, top 75 player.

I did remember you getting a 4 star rating when going to aTm but forgot to add it. Does 4 star get you in the top 75? Anyway just adding stars to a recruit because of who they signed with seems a bit retarded.

I didn't read the entire thread but I wanted to wish Bowles the best of luck in the future.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Even when Bowles was committed to us there was talk that he was going to get into the top 150 for sure. It was just a matter of where he'd be placed. He did jump up higher than I expected to see and some of that probably had to do with aTm. But to act like the recruiting networks didn't think much of him before aTm is simply wrong.
