i dont know why everyone thinks ellis has the body of a small forward or needs to get in the weight room. The guy is really put together. now there is a huge difference in being strong in the weight room and being physical and a man in the game. I gurantee ellis is plenty strong enough he just doesnt use it. he lets people out physical him bc he has the small forward mentality. if he developed that power forward mentality with some nastiness he would be fine. its not that he needs to get bigger

I pretty much agree with what's been said, but we just don't seem gelled enough, the intra-team dynamics is sporadic. I will give you an example:
That one game where Hannah was connecting with Clemente on so many assists, you could tell they worked on it together in practice, but it has been virtually non-existent since.
As the season has been going, I have seen more effort from Hatch, more aggression from Ellis, more hard work from Griskenas, Hawkins became more aggressive then took 2 steps back. But the team is not a welled oiled machine within HCGM's vision.
I happen to play another sport, and when your game is off, you always go back to the basics to correct it. Basketball, like my other sport, is a building block process to get good results, and that responsibility mainly falls on the coaching staff's shoulders. It is hard to be effective if you are dealing with a 3 legged table.

Good overall analysis
I still do believe, even though it is getting hard for me, that Ellis will get back to where he was at the end of the year last season. It has been discussed in great detail on this message board, and for whatever the real reason is he is just not performing. I do think that if we actually had some senior leadership that he might feel more comfortable and maybe not feel so pressured to perform. Either way I still believe he is a potential good D-1 player if and when he..
1. decides to play with a sense of urgency and passion for the game
2. feels less pressured that he has to make the spectacular plays to get him more PT, being consistant and filling the stat sheet will do that
3. realizes that he could be a special player in the Valley with the attributes he possesses.
One other thing, after this next recruiting class comes in I really feel as our young players continue to mature and develop that everyone will look back to this year and realize we had pretty high expectations for a team that was starting from the ground up. this isn't going to be an overnight fix, but in a year or two I feel the team will really be contending for league titles and playing at a high level.... I just hope I wont have to eat my words

Roster
Thoughtful post by Royal.
Personally, I'll be surprised if what is currently slated to be next year's five man junior class (i.e., Durley, Blair, Ellis, Hatch, Chamberlain) all comes back -- though obviously Blair will be back -- in which case at least one more scholarship will be available in addition to the one we all hope goes to Orukpe. No inside knowledge there, just observation.
