Never in all my years of following soorts have I ever heard a recruit say that he signed with a particular school because they sold more tickets than some other school.

They may not come out and say it, but it does play a part in their decision. If you were an 18 year old, which arena would be more fun to play in, the one with 4700 fans or the one with over 10,000 fans?

But you do hear recruits talk about fan support and the atmosphere of different schools helping influence decisions.

It's definitely one of many factors. I'm not sure I'd put it at 90% though.

Lets look at this from a plus and minus point of perspective.
Facilities: Plus for WSU in basketball and baseball with at least a minus for drake. Fan Support: Again a plus for WSU with minus going to drake since they average about the same as WSU does for Baseball and Volleyball. Coaching: Have to go with a minus for WSU on the basketball side since no prior relationship existed between JC and HCGM with a plus going to drake because of the prior relationship. Baseball a definitive plus for WSU and N/A for drake. Weight training: What more can you say than Kerry Rosenboom. Travel: Charter flights vs (I have no clue how drake travels) City: Wichita (Wind blows like the devil) vs Des (hope it doesn't flood again this spring) Moines. Hot chicks: Wichita, where most of the women have a full set of teeth. drake, where a tooth brush is aptly named. This looks like a slam dunk to me or a home run depending on which sport we are pushing but I am a little biased. :shock:

Distance from home - plus for Drake. Easier for family to watch the games and for Johnny to get home in an emergency. This is probably a big factor.
