  • Beer at Shocker Games

Since the students are technically on vacation, why can't beer be served???
For some the glass is half full and for others half empty. My glass is out of ice.

Does anyone actually remember a time when alcohol was served @ CKA...or HLA?

It's not allowed by the NCAA to be served at on-campus indoor facilities. Unfortunately. Although if we ever play at the downtown arena, it's allowed. That's why Creighton, and Bradley can have alcohol at their games, they play at off-campus facilities.

That's the primary reason Creighton and Bradley fans act like embicles.

No kidding, those are the worst fans I've seen. The Bradley student section is right by our bench, which is of course very normal, but they were almost out on the court jeering the bench, while they were down on our end of the floor no less, yet the refs don't do anything about it. I don't see any problem with that do you guys?

I was too young to drink when they were at the KC but I'm pretty sure they served beer while playing there.

                    idea

The mention of the downtown arena in this thread makes me wonder if WSU will use that place to bring in big schools that normaly wouldn't come to Wichita. I smell recruiting positve.. Marshall can already explain to incoming recruits that CKA has a rowdy crowd that nearly sells out every game. When the downtown arena is finished he can tell them WSU might play big prestigous schools in Wichita's brand new arena..

I think they would play big prestigious schools in Charles Koch. I mean how often does KU play like a North Carolina in Kansas City instead of Lawrence?

                          thats much different.

                          Ku would get a home-and-home.
we'd get a neutral wichita game and 2 at UNC.

one good example would be Gonzaga. they often play neutral games in Seattle because many high profile teams are scared to lose at gonzaga where they have a very good winning percentage. i suppose that would be the equivalent as us going to KC though.. so maybe not the best example.

Yes, at the Kansas Colesium, but not at Henry Levitt/Koch Arena since I was a student and after (1977). 3.2 beer drinking age then was 18, so it was off to the Flicker after games.

Also, IIRC the NCAA prohibits beer sales at all tournaments, regardless of venue.
