The thing I like to see is the use of "my"...my team, my city, my newcomers. Ramon has obviously taken ownership of the team and is a true leader. There will be some bumps along the way, but no one should question his heart (not that they have).

You know the younger guys are looking up to him and can see the fire in him. I only wish he were around a couple extra years.

I love it because he calls Wichita my city. He wants to be here and he works his tail off. He got a standing O the other night just for his effort in going after a basketball. that doesnt happen often. Im glad he came here. he wants to be here and that matters alot. Im highly doubt the arena will sell out the next few games and dont know if we will win or not but i wont give up on ramon or marshal or the rest of them. we came into this year knowing it would be and up an down year. Losing a couple of close games to top 25 teams doesnt mean that will change.

        brutal

Not sure if this belongs here, but Wichita media is brutal. I went to high school with a guy who played baseball for the shox last year and is now trying to become a pro. I knew the guy pretty well, our high school was not that big. I saw alot of transformation over the years and could not believe the flack he got from Wichita media. Even after Gene spoke very highly of the guy, Wichita media just acted like a pack of wolves. It's interesting to hear Clemente vent.. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Maybe WSU would be a Big 12 school by now had the city had their backs more often.

Ramon, stop reading ShockerNet. The guys getting on the team would complain if WSU won a NC. It would probably be that the games were too close and we should have blown teams out by 20 instead of squeaking by by 4 or 5 points.

The only fans complaining are the ones who think they are entitled to a top-25 tram every year and an MVC championship every year. Any team that can't provide that - and show consistent improvement isn't worthy of their support because of the self-importance they place on themselves.

We all want the players to give the best they can every game, but a lot of WSU's players haven't been around D1 ball long enough to understand what the best they can give means or apply it to their games.

If the players were performing to some fans expectations, we'd have 5 first-round lottery picks on the team. And they'd all go league after this season.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I hope you are right, but if it isn't the beginning of the tournaround, many of the fans, several of whom post on this board, will be back at the stone throwing.

I don't think anyone was questioning Ramon's heart. He obviously gets it.

We're fans. We get frustrated. We want and expect the very best from our programs here. If we were to just sit around and say 'oh, it's ok. winning isn't everything..", we'd all be a bunch of losers.

I know, I sometimes get carried away. But it's all sincerely because I WANT this team to do good and be good. And I don't like to sugarcoat anything.

Exactly. That kid's a winner no matter what our record is.

Gotta love Ramon for standing up and demanding all the blame for his teammates. And perhaps he shouldn't be the only one.

In my opinion, I believe there is a line we cross way too often. And that line is singling out individual players, by name, and dissecting their every deficiency over and over and over. Seems sometimes like a game some play just to try and prove their worldly knowledge of basketball.

And please drop the crap that they are on scholarships and therefore are fair game. Our coach determined their worthiness and who are you to question this? These are still very young men and for the most part they are doing the best they can. They are the ones out there bleeding, not us. I just somehow think they want to win just as much if not more than we do.

If this is "old school," then I'm proud of being so, and will take my licks

Ramon has never had anything but my respect. Last year he was a bright spot in what seemed like a really dark tunnel. This year he's turning into the leader we all hoped he would be. Give the team some time and they'll show everyone what they're truly made of.

                              Go SHox!

Lest we forget, folks, HCGM is used to having to win conference tournaments to go to the Big Dance. If the Shox can keep from playing on Thursday of the tourney, I think they'll have good chances to win it.

I'm going to be right on the floor (or the 2nd row) tomorrow night, so I'm going to give an earful of support for our guys, especially Ramon.

And, as a good fan, I'm giving my usual seat to somebody else, so we get CKA as full as possible.
