  • our breakout player will be.....

    ...who ....do you think?

i love the interest around the new guys, and i guess hawkins is the obvious answer, since he HAS done it before, but i'm looking for great things from him.....

AJ and Ramon will lead this team. I don't think anybody will say otherwise.

I hope JT has a breakout year and puts it all together.

But I suspect either Murry or Kyles to really jump out at us by the end of the season. I'd prefer both but I'm not going to get too greedy :D

And Aaron Ellis has shown what he's capable of. But will he finally do it consistently?

I could probably do this covering almost everyone. I'm just too excited and with so many young players it's tough to say...

I think this thread is premature. I like to view a couple of games (exhibitions) before I pick my 'darkhorse' player of the year.

Yes, Hawkins seems like a good choice, but I think we have enough guard talent this year that it very well could be one of them.

I want to get a darkhorse vote in for Mantas. It's hard to remember now, but when he was hitting the boards and hitting threes, he looked pretty good out there.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

The nice thing is that we have so many possibilities for breakout years.

I'm sure everyone is looking to Ramon and A.J. to lead the way.

After that J.T., David, Toure', Clevin and Aaron are all strong candidates to strut their stuff. Mantas, Reggie C., Garrett and Graham could also all surprise on the upside.

If the majority of these guys play well and surprise to the upside then watch out MVC.

If David Kyles continues to play like he did the other night, with the same intensity, he will be the breakout player. A.J. has tremendous tools, but as we've learned over the years, it's what's in the heart that matters. Kyles looked like a lion Saturday night and I often find myself reminiscing over his NASTY posterage of our 7 footer.

I will say JT Durley. I really think he will be a guy that averages 16 points and 6 rebound type of player this year.

Kyles is going to be an interesting player to watch this year. I get the feeling he's a guy that will frequently go "out of system" due to his athleticism. Obviously, that is not necessarily a bad thing. I suspect coach Marshall wants to see more of that than we saw last year. If David makes good decisions in that regard, he could have a special year (for a freshman).

I expect many of us to utter these words when looking at the boxscore the next day: Damn, I didn't realize Toure Murry had that good of a game!

I think what he means is that Toure will put up his points quietly and you won't realize just how many he had until looking at the boxscore.

The only question with JT is how many points allowed will he average... But he could be due for a HUGE year.

Correct, but incomplete. I think he will be filling up the stat sheet in more ways than scoring.
