a couple of points...how does everyone feel?

    1) i think that the closed scrimmage, while it will cost the university a few hundred thousand in revenue from tickets, and prob another $100k in concession sales, is good for the young team. I would like to see us scrimmage (in no particular order) tulsa, tcu, umkc, missouri state, oral roberts

    2) sounds like orupke is in good hands...i'd love to see him redshirt, and be back in koch arena next summer - and it sounds like the staff at Three Rivers is preparing him for just that.

I don't think we would lose 200K in ticket sales revenues. The exhibition games are part of the season ticket packages and I don't think they are dropping the prices of season tickets. 100K sounds a bit high for concessions, maybe not though.

Looks like Matt will be starting work this coming Monday. Also EO will more than likely be a redshirt at Three Rivers and then have three years of eligibility remaining. Hope he comes back here, but if not I wish the young man the best wherever he ends up.

From the Eagle article I'd say it sounds like we're in pretty good shape to get EO back next year and for what it's worth, I'd think that the scrimmage opponent would be K-State, Okla-State or even St. Louis as they're close D1 programs with new coaches trying to establish programs that have more cache than the others you mentioned; with perhaps the exception of Tulsa who seemly wants nothing to do with us and they're in areas we seem to be building stronger recognition and interest in our program.

Concession sales would be more like 20k. If coach says it is better for a young team, then I support him on it.

EO sounds like he is being taken care of, but, no doubt, other recruiters will be approaching him this next year. If the exit exam scores are not obtained this coming year, he won't be available to us for 2 years.

I heard about Matt about 4 months ago, and am glad this came to fruitation as planned. Best of luck to Dana in his new job. Matt should be able to add poise, good decision-making, and timing to our new guards.

couldn't EO simply take 18, 18, and 18 over the summer and graduate from juco? Add the 6 credits he has already recieved and that would be 60 credit hours. I think that .........

scratch that I just went and checked and it will take between 63 and 66 credit hours to graduate from most of thier programs. Still with the little possiblility of actually getting those test results this would get him eligible via the AA degree.

You are only allowed to take a maximum 12 hours for a summer session.
I think carrying 18 hours would be too taxing on EO anyway.

WSU needs to review the options for EO, and pursue the best ones that get him back to us eligible to play in the shortest amount of time.

I think you could pretty much cross off UMKC, SWOMO and TCU we'll play them during the season. Especially SWOMO. Tulsa and ORU are definite possibilities and of course I'd prefer it were OSU or 0U. I doubt KSU would work with us. North Texas may be an option as well.

Colorado has a relatively new coach and is in the same position WSU is in, lots and lots of new faces due to attrition and graduation. Just thinking out loud. Bzdelik also emphasizes defense and an up-tempo shoot from everywhere offense.

A redshirt year at Three Rivers is huge. He gets a year to work on offense and learn the American game. Then a year to put that into game situations.

It also puts him a year behind Stutz when he comes back to WSU, and I expect that to happen. I don't expect we're going to get his scores out of Africa.

Wouldn't EO still have four years if he comes back here after one year there, assuming we get his paperwork in time?

From the article, talking about EO redshirting:

Orupke can use the time to polish his offensive skills, be out of the recruiting spotlight to a degree and preserve a year of eligibility.

A couple of points. The fact that the coach is going to red shirt him shows that they have WSU's AND EO's best interest at heart. Additionally, Coach Bess is a seasoned coach, not a young coach trying to climb up the ladder to big time success. This bodes well for getting EO back.

Also,I assume EO can sign another LOI in NOV..... in case we do get the paperwork that would lock him for 09...which would make me feel better....if it is not forthcoming then he gets his two year degree and we are back on pins and needles

                            We have to either:
                            1. get his test scores out of Africa..........or
                            2. He has to graduate juco

Why is that so hard to grasp?
