I was surprised to see us ranked in this this year. Last year we were 64th.

Pretty good analysis. Didn't notice him leaving people out except for Graham Hatch. By the way, we are # 134.

      Projected Starting Five:

Reggie Chamberlain, Sophomore, Guard DNP last season

Clevin Hannah, Junior, Guard, DNP last season

A.J. Hawkins, Junior, Forward, DNP last season

Ramon Clemente, Senior, Forward, 7.0 points per game

J.T. Durley, Sophomore, Forward, 7.0 points per game

      interesting...

The only things I disagree with are minor. I think Matt was the heart and soul of this team last year and I'd still be surprised if JT starts.

I think the write up is fair and positive. As for the starting line up he suggests, I think it is a realistic guess at this point especially coming from a writer not intimately familiar with the program. If either GS or EO cannot step in right away (which is more likely than not), Durley is the most logical alternative.

Does anyone think we will have any redshirts this year? Beyond the walk-ons.

Not bad. I'll take it, considering the focus of the team should be gaining experience working as a team, and coming together by postseason time.

I'd really love to shock some people in the Valley Tourney.

                  Yes.
Maybe. It depends on how confident Marshall is with what we have. Ideally we could redshirt a player or two. But do we have enough depth and talent to do so? I know we have enough potential but there's a difference there. And you know Marshall wants to win.

If GS or EO cannot step in right away then something tragically bad has occurred.

I have not seen either play but I have to respectfully disagree. They are, in fact, first year players. More than that – they are first year centers. If one or both are not ready for the starting line up at the beginning of the season, I would not call that tragic.

Do not get me wrong, I am very excited about both players; however, I am reluctant to place too high of expectations on them.

I would not be surprised at all if JT started over Eo and GS. Jt has a red shirt year and a freshman year where he gained valuable experience. EO does not have any experience playing High School or AAU ball. Garrett is still a true freshman, he is going to have an incredible learning curve his first year.

We might see AE at the 4 and Ramon at the 5 to begin the year. From the way AE ended the year and the reports on his bigger body, it may be hard to keep him off the court.

I think this year could see many different line ups and would guess they will remain in flux into Valley play.

I would also guess that the combination of the athletes and Coach's fast break O & pressure D will create a need for more fresh bodies so who starts might not be that big of a deal.

Can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

Love the scrimmage reports . . . please keep them coming!

But JT still has major deficiencies. If he's our starting center, considering he's more of a PF, then I agree that something is wrong. If he does start the season as the starter, I pray it doesn't last long.

I would not argue that it would be a good thing if Durley begins the year as WSU’s starting center (Durley’s “issues” have been discussed at length) but I don’t think it necessarily reflects poorly on GS or EO.

I also don’t believe, should this come to fruition, that Durley would remain the starting center the entire year.
