It's too early to tell but it's looking good so far :good:

Why is cricket great? (Hands the keyboard off to a student from India.) India beats Pakistan in test matches. (OK, that was me. :D I don't know if India or Pakistan wins more often. However, imagine the forum we could have here, with students (& faculty) from Australia, India, Pakistan, the UK, Derby, South Africa, Kenya, New Zealand, Park City, Sri Lanka, West Indies, etc. posting about cricket!! )

I predict zero loses in football, cricket, field hockey and soccer next year.

I always wondered where that was. :)

For Basketball, I will say between 3rd and 5th. I think we come out firing, even if we misfire a few times. Our guard play and AJ are going to make a big difference, plus the added height under the basket. Stutz is a smart kid, he will be a fast learner, and will have Drew Gooden type moves. EO will be a lean machine who's arms will come out of nowhere to block shots and rebound.

Make no mistake about it, Clemente and AJ will be motivating this team to perform.

I go with HP on this one. So many unknowns and so much youth.

Main thing is to be substantially better at the end of the year than we are at the beginning.

Here is a thread from The Bluejay Cafe: Bluejay Hoops The future's so bright... http://thebluejaycafe.com/BB/viewtopic.php?t=10724. I think Creighton fans expect to win the Valley, as do SIU fans.

If Drake can go from #9 in 2007 to #1 in 2008, why can't WSU go from #9 in 2008 to #1 in 2009? We almost beat lots of teams last year; for example, with 30 seconds to go in the DU@WSU game, we were down 3 and had the ball. We have lost PJ, Matt, Gal, Lance, and Phillip. We bring back some experience:
Starters: Clemente (29 GS), Griskenas (4 GS), Ellis (4 GS), Hatch (3 GS)
                  Minutes played: Clemente (806 minutes played, 26.9 minutes per game), Durley (464, 15.0), Griskenas (312, 17.3), Hatch (175, 12.5), Ellis (433, 14.0).

I think we expect a lot from A.J. Hawkins.
                  A.J. Hawkins' Career Statistics http://gobonnies.cstv.com/sports/m-b...kins_aj00.html
                  2005-06; 27/10 G/GS; 73-160 FG-A; .456 Pct; 0-12 3PT-A; .000 Pct; 170 Pts; 6.3 Avg
                  2006-07 29/28 G/GS; 123-276 FG-A; .446 Pct; 17-48 3PT-A; .354 Pct; 354 Pts; 12.2 Avg

I think defense in the MVC will be tougher than what St. Bonaventure saw. If he can hit 45% of his shots and 35% of his threes, this would be good. As a soph, he "averaged 30.4 minutes per night" but only averaged 12.2 points per game. Is this a concern since he will not average 30+ minutes per game at WSU (with Ellis, Griskenas, Durley, Orukpe and Stutz available as frontcourt players) and will play against tougher defenses?

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Even though WSU plays against tougher defenses, he will probably have a better supporting cast that he is playing with here too. I really don't think that there is someone in the top 8 or 9 on this team that you could think about doubling away from at any point in a game. If they choose to do so, FSF might have a coronary from yelling too loud from the thunderous dunk that will follow. :)

Even though this team is young and inexperienced, they should be able to make up for that in talent and athleticism. Two big, big guys will draw attention when they the ball and that will open up players like AJ and Co. for good shots.

http://thebluejaycafe.com/BB/viewtopic.php?t=10745 made me laugh. Lunardi comes up with a Bracketology which includes only one Valley team, which is Creighton with an eleven seed, and Jaysrule writes " would love for this to happen. CU in KC http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology ". Do CU fans have any self-respect? An 11-seed for the Valley automatic bid is an insult. (Of course he/she would be happy to see them play in KC but otherwise ...)
