  • MVC Signing Day Action

This article gives information on all the first day signings in the MVC. Chamberlain's signing with WSU and I believe Reed with Indiana State are ones that had not been previously announced with a verbal.

    SIU

Ryan Hare 6-4 SG/SF from Chicago Marshall. He is a Rivals' three star. More information can be obtained on him on our recruiting board as we looked at him.

    Bradley

Dorian "Dodie" Dounson, a 6-3 guard transfer with two years to play from Vincennes CC. 10.7 ppg, 3.6 assists.

Darian Norris is a 5-11 PG who is transfering from Mojave CC (NV) with two years of eligibilty. A Rivals' three star with a 18.7 points per game average last year.

    Illinois State

Loyd Phillips from Iowa Western CC, 17ppg and was looked at by some good schools such as Oklhoma State, Western Kentucky and Iowa State. This puts Illinios State one over the limit. Perhaps it's insurance if Bobby Hill is not eligible, but if Hill plays, somebody will not be coming back.

    Indiana State

Rashad Reed is a 6-1 PG from Vincennes and recruited by Toledo, Murray State and others.

    Edit-

    Drake

Trey Anderson from Hebron, Texas who recently gave the Bulldogs a verbal is now saying he will wait to see who becomes their new coach.

A couple of Evansville signings didn't make the story:

Kaylon Williams is a 6-3 PG, Rivals 3 star from Cedar Rapids. He had interest from Southern Mississippi, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri State and Bradley.

James Haarsma, a 6-6, forward from Racine, Wisconsin. A 2 star forward in '07, he dropped out of a California prep school this winter.

One of the Drake verbals that did not sign and nobody seems to know what will happen is Wendell Faines, a 3 star, 6-8 PF from Lincoln, Nebraska. He has been playing prep ball in Virginia. He was very interested in the Shockers during his senior year.

Bradley recruit Darian Norris is not a juco. He is an All State high school player from Mojave High School in Las Vegas.

            Other signings:

            Creighton:

As expected Xavier Keeling, a 6-6 PF JUCO transfer. He was at Indiana his freshman year.

Tom Whitehead who verballed has not signed. There may be eligibility problems.

            MSU-

Derron Hobbs, a high school PG from St. Louis. There were some last minute concerns about him following through on his verbal, but he did.

              Couple of clarifications:

              1. Keeling has not signed his LOI yet; the OWH story was incorrect and a retraction has been printed.

              2. Whitehead doesn't need to sign an LOI as he is already enrolled at CU and has been taking classes since the start of the spring semester. There are no eligibility issues.

Thanks. Are you still expecting Keeling to sign?

As expected, Cuanzo Martin gets a LOI from Cardell McFarland for MSU. Martin had placed the 6-1 PG at Bridgton Academy after recruiting him last year for Purdue. Others trying to get McFarland this year were Miami (Ohio), North Texas State, St. Bonaventure, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennesse State.

                    Northern Iowa Signings:

Ali Farokhmanesh- 5-11 pg from Kirkwood CC. He was a Div II NJCAA All-American with offers from St. Louis, Cal-Irvine, Montana State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Anthony James- 6-1 SG from St. Louis Normandy High School. He picked NIU over Texas-San Antionio and Eastern Illinois.

NIU has one scholarship left and might hold on to it if they don't find the right fit.

I freely admit that I don't have the slightest hint as to the caliber of the two players NI selected. They may both be two great sleepers. What would concern me if they were coming to WSU (other than having faith in our coach) is the virtual lack of interest by other schools equal to or greater than NI.

Where are the additional WSU signees everyone talked about?

                        Fall Signees:
                        Toure Murry
                        Clevin Hannah
                        Garrett Stutz
                        David Kyles

                        Spring Verbals:
                        Reggie Chamberlain

                        ?????
                        ?????
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I believe the talk was basically that we were going to end up with 1-3 more.

Coach and his staff are looking for the best players available, plus recruiting for next year. If we have quality people we may have come in next year, we may keep people we already have. If we have quality people to come in this year, then they will make a spot for them.

                            Where are they?

Let's have a look at the statscan

                            15% are eating at McDonalds.
67% are wondering if flowers are the right thing for Mother's day
11% are wondering if they can get away with giving their mom a new pair of basketball shoes
38% are wondering if it's too soon to call that shorty from the other night
51% are currently with that shorty from the other night
5% are taking a dump. Of those, 50% are reminded to send MSU their rejection letter when they turn around to flush.
75% are texting someone right now. Probability of one recruit texting another blew up the statscan computer.

So, now you know. And knowledge is power!
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I've felt that we'd only sign one or two in the spring. We have one and I'm fine with that if it goes no further. The depth and talent level are better than it was last year. If we sign another player, great. If not, I'm happy with the make up of the team.
