    Zach Brown's Defensive Prowess

Hey Bobb, I saw somewhere within the past 2 or 3 weeks where CBS Sports, or ESPN considers Zach Brown one of the 3 premier defenders in the country. I'm sure there are others here who remember that statement, too.

Or you could say arguably (at least in 3G's eyes) the best defender on one of the best defensive teams in the country

He always contributed something positive even if it was just "mop-up" court time. There were others who were designated mop-up guys, and when observed on the court it didn't take long to see why (one of them has since transferred). That wasn't the case with CJ, in my opinion. To me he's David Kyles with better handles/more potential. CJ was a fairly highly regarded recruit.

Zach Brown was also going to be "the guy" on defense and while a good defender and all around player has not yet developed into a scary defender a la Cotton, or frankly as much of an offensive threat as Cotton.
I would recommend to anyone who has the game DVR'd to watch his defensive positioning/footwork against All-World M. Monk last March... This coming from probably Z. Brown's #1 critic.

I'm glad David Kyles was and will always be a Shocker. He served a purpose for those teams. However, he wouldn't even be able to get on the court with current teams imo. He was a tremendous athlete (had an unbelievable vertical), and when he got hot, he was a pretty good outside scorer. But in three years, CJ will prove to be a much better player than DK was.

It also looked to me like CJ "bulked up" quite a lot since last summer. He just plain looks a lot stronger.

So we have BOBB calling ZB "not a stopper," and Marshall calling him "our defensive stopper." Hmmmm....

I stupidly keep hoping there will be some practice news on this thread. Are they practicing? Is Markis back?

                      I always need more Kyles.
I hope to always need more Keyser.

He is our best defender. And a stopper.

Since Coach Marshall places such an important emphasis on team defense, he has a sharp eye on players that could fit that mold of a possible defensive stopper. CJ is one such player that Coach Marshall himself said has the potential to be a defensive stopper. Based on his expertise on such matters, I'm going with it and CJ is oozing with the talent combined with hard work to do so in due time IMO.
