Couple weeks ago we went singin in ICT. I'm allergic to barley so sometimes I get off the stuff. This particular night I asked for a Blue Moon bottle. It's a wheat beer. They didn't have bottles but they had it on tap, so I went with that. At the end of the night I realized they were charging $4.50 for a glass. Seemed like Scottrade had a better deal.

The revenue stream isn't as great as many think, but it is a revenue stream. Beer sales will help the bottom line, some. Giving the fans what they want is probably a more important factor.
People don't need beer to watch basketball, but many enjoy a beer or two. They will not get drunk drinking during a game. It can be a family atmosphere and adults can responsibly enjoy adult beverages. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
$4.50 for Blue Moon pulls is not a bad deal. Depends on the glass size.
The NCAA has studied alcohol sales and found it not to be problematic.
If you are comcerned about drunks at the game, they are either already there, or you won't have the problem. People that are drunk at events drink before entering, or smuggle in booze for their pop. It is not, nor has it ever been economical to pay arena prices for the "luxury" of getting loaded.
At the end of the day, most people won't buy any beer at the game. Those that do will buy one or two. Only those determined to be offended, will. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Article about beer sales at SMU. They have streamlined the sales so income has increased since then.

I am now a teetotaler but not an advocate for temperance, so I am all for this as long as it increases revenue and improves the fan experience. I don't believe we will see many, if any idiots as a result of this but you never know.“Losers Average Losers.” ― Paul Tudor Jones

It may not be widespread but it just seems like selling out the ability for a family to enjoy the games for a few bucks. I know I'm in the minority, but I'll be disappointed if they do this. I guess that makes me determined to be offended.

Imagine if you dropped your hard earned money for tix and SASO and had someone like that within earshot, that's not gonna make the game less enjoyable?
