Yeah, but sometimes you have to snatch a head coaching gig while you can. I am a little more disappointed losing GH cause he is still just an assistant. At least Jan's is getting a promotion

Good for CJ. Hope that his family travels with him this time. Hoping that Jans' elevation and Heiar's leaving were unrelated, otherwise this was a ginormous fustercluck.

Yikes, this is kinda scary. Marshall looking short-handed at this point, but his track record with assistant coaches shows that he continues to get/develop good ones...I guess we'll see.

The timing of everything is certainly suspect but without any inside information I think you just have to chalk it up to coincidence.

I wish Jans the best. NMSU already has a great program going, he just has to sustain it, much easier than the Bowling Green job. After 2-3 years Jans should be able to jump into a solid P5 job.

It could be just me, but I find it strange that he would take the AHC postion, only to bolt a week later. Why would you take that position and then leave immediately? This doesn't feel right to me on many levels. I understand he has to do what is best for him and his family, but dang, it just doesn't feel right.

Losing assistants to head coaching gigs is a good problem to have.

                    • Is it too late to make a push to GH as AHC? Might be too much ego to overcome, but sometimes timing is everything.

                      • That has to be some sort of record for shortest AHC stint. I can't blame CJ for taking the NMSU job though, it would be awfully hard to turn down the chance to run your own program and who knows how many more opportunities he would have had if he turned it down.

I know CJ will be successful at NMSU and I wish him well.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

                        • I will be pulling for him at NMSU like I do Forbes at ETSU

Not me. Lack of loyalty to HCGM after Gregg pulled him from the no-hire abyss. Should have stayed on another year during the critical transition to the AAC.

Same boat here. That combined with the GH move makes this worse.
