This and the moment we upped Marshall to 3.3 million are the two moments that were signals to the country that we aren't a mid major.

Beating KU in football. I still remember driving through Lawrence after the game.

Zero doubt that's in my top 10 (probably top 5) for many reasons. Fantastic weekend.

Not to brag, but I have to be in a very small group of WSU fans that has seen the Shocks beat KU in person in football (1 time only), basketball (2 of 3 in my life), baseball (easy one) and volleyball (only one that counted).

Went to my first live game at Henry Levitt winter of 1987-1988 and a fight broke out, which was cool (kudos to whoever remembers the opponent because I don't. Piss troughs. The Alabama game in 1990. LD Swanson late game heroics. Jamie Arnold's hot dog. Florida State NIT. Leaving early on Valentine's day massacre (never again). PJs steal and pass to Ryan Martin. Pretty much everything Fred. All good moments.

I still believe our BEST moments are ahead.

I think the fight in 87-88 was against Bradley. But, I think it was more of a scuffle. Aubrey somehow fell or was kind of pushed into the Bradley bench. They kind of surrounded him; and here came X. Things got straightened out pretty quickly when X arrived. Pretty sure both teams were ranked and Versace had popped off about X's rebounding stats being padded at home adding to the atmosphere. X windexed them for about 22 boards and Versace ate crow in post game interview. One of the great Roundhouse atmospheres that night.

THIS will sound odd, because it CERTAINLY didn't work out, but at the time, the first time Randy Smithson walked in as coach was amazing...the return of a Favorite son to run the program....remember VERY loud cheering and applause...

Memory affects me much the same. All things that happened, but few of them in 87-88 (X's last season was 84-85). But I love how you put that...things did usually get "straightened out pretty quickly" when X arrived lol. One way or the other.

The only brawl I remember was against Indy St. Sasha played with a ripped Jersey. We were up big and Indy state clawed back onky playing with 4 guys because the rest got ejected. Not sure of any more details, but I bekieve that was the year we made the tourney with an 18-11 record... so that tells you how good the Valley was then.

I almost said the great Mike Kennedy but he couldn't be at the volleyball match due to a men's basketball road game the next day.

Wow! You have something over Mike. That's pretty cool! 👍🏼

Ask Mike Kennedy about the plane ride to Peoria when X heard about Versace's comments.
