He appears to have better handles than Smith does. Sometimes it seemed we lacked that extra ball-handler.

He has a better BBIQ than Smith as well.

I'd say. Every time Smith hit the court uncle Mo went the other way. Quickly I might add.

As someone that has watched SMJ play at least 20 times over the last three years I can tell you his defense is still light years above most Juco players.

Not sometimes. Frequently. Was our biggest shortcoming in the UK game. SHJ is a major get in that department alone.

To be fair, SHJ was not playing against Kentucky.

Smith was also a highly-touted JuCo guard. I'm excited to have both on campus to push each other over the next year.

There is no reason to think that Smith won't be improved and a much smarter player next year. It usually happens that way if a juco is talented. God for us this year, we found Landry and Conner to build our back court around.

That's an understatement : ) There was a game this year when our point double dribbled while walking the ball up the court...

I'm excited about our new Home Town Hero! I hope he has PG skills ala Joe Ragland and isn't just an undersized 2, ala Randy Burns (not that there's anything wrong with that...just not what we need).

I;m convinced that what SJH lacks on-ball defense is technique, something that can be taught. His overall floor defense BBIQ is many levels above most at the JUCO games I've seen. I wish he were 6'4" with the same quickness, but alas... Cannot predict whether he can develop the FVV ability to get the ball up to the rim against D-1 defenders, but he seems to find a way to make the correct pass in traffic -- always a bonus.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

There is always room for a 'Randy Burns' on your team. I felt happy just reading his name. I'm not the oldest of Shocker fans, and he is the first shocker I really gravitated to. I loved those teams, but I digress...

On a more related note, I have no real expectations on what we will get from SHJ, but I'd love another guy who can handle the ball. Can he drive to the basket well? I felt like we were kind of exposed there in the tourney minus Landry.

I wish we were getting both of these guys.

The last time I watched Jones was at a camp at WSU and he quickly caught my eye and I was impressed. What a keeper he is for us now and he has improved by leaps and bounds IMO.. If Juiston was a Freshman, he would also be a solid catch and many big teams are looking at him now they say. He is very good. Right now, we are loaded at his slot but in a year we will reload. Sometimes, it is all about good timing for a good fit for players and programs.

Next Seasons recruiting for 2018 will be attractive to recruits. By then, we should be in a better Conference and will have playing time which players are looking for. I'm wondering if we might find an experienced Transfer as we have done in the past more than once that would walk on as we groom him to our System and then sign for 2018? Dunno, but it could always be an option based on past tendencies.

We have 4 returning guards, plus SHJ. Wonder what this means for minutes. Redshirt for somebody?
