I don't think he has signed with an agent yet. Now, if someone somewhere has assured him 100%
he is going in the first round then I say go for it, BUT if he does not have that assurance he might
want to think again. The 2019 class doesn't appear as strong as this years. Another good year
focusing on areas of his game that need improvement could put him SOLIDLY in the 2019 first
round. If he signs with an agent and ends up in the 2nd round he might not ever see an NBA court.
Wishing the best for him but unless he has assurance he is going in the first round he is taking a
big gamble as it appears he could be on the bubble. Stay another year and he could be in a much
stronger first round position. If he has already signed an agent I guess it's all moot

Landry doesn't seem like someone who would make a quick, knee-jerk or seat-of-the-pants decision on his future. I see him as someone who has given his situation a lot of thought. My guess is that he has received some input that gave him the comfort to announce he was declaring and would be signing with an agent. Hope it all goes well for Landry.

It sounds like he wants to make some cash right away to help with his family. I have great respect for that. There are so many places in the world to play for big bucks. The NBA isn't the only path to take. He just isn't ready for the NBA. I just hope he doesn't put all his emotional eggs in that basket, because he will be guaranteed to be disappointed. Now, as I said last week...prove me wrong Landry!!!

This is a gamble for sure for Landry. I would have advised patience but Landry is not patient. I hope his gamble pays off. I don’t think he would have been worse off next year, but it is Landry’s life and I hope his decision pays off for him.

I agree that is what he’s doing (betting on himself). I just think he’s.in more of a hurry than he needs to be. I still don’t think he would be worse off next year (barring injury which is no reason to base this decision on imo). He can get hurt any time and then he may go without injury for a long time. This decision could as easily bite him on the butt. I hope for his career, it’s a good decision.

I was listening to an interview on the radio this evening with Jaylon Brunson of Villanova. He was saying how he finished his Soph year on a bad note and had not become the leader he needed to be. Sounded awefully familiar.

The decision to stay or go is or should be a purely financial one. Education can be had at any point; look at Shaq ONeal (who, after finishing his degree, stated, "Now I can go and get a real job!"). If he needs more time/experience, is he best suited for another year of restricted play, limited coach interaction, injury risk, etc. in college or devoted full time to the game and coaching while getting a salary of 6 figures in the NBA or even G league? I know what I'd do. In his case, he has to take the recommendations of those he trusts as to whether his salary will go up enough next year to postpone and return. Sounds like he's made his decision.

I guess we're just wringing our hands over this because we didn't get to see Landry reach his potential at WSU. We don't have a history of sending guys to the NBA before they reach their potential, and it's probably something we're gonna have to get used to going forward. We could make a long list of guys from Kentucky, KU, UNC, etc. that got drafted and did much less than Landry in college. Life in the big leagues I guess.

Neither Fred nor Ron were taken in the first round and it has worked out very well for them. I really hated for Landry to go this year, but with his prior two injuries, I really think he made the best choice. And now that he has made his choice, I'm sure every Shocker fan is 100% pulling for a great outcome for a very talented young man, who gave his all and more, and played his heart out for the Shockers.
