UCF's identity will undeniably be on the defensive side of the ball, where 7-foot-6 sensation Tacko Fall represents a massive challenge for opposing teams around the rim. The Knights ranked 18th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency according to KenPom last season, and that stingy defensive unit should roll over into 2017 to make UCF a team to be feared in the American.

The American Athletic Conference will feature a two-team race to the championship this season. With all due respect to Connecticut, Houston, Southern Methodist and Central Florida — all of whom have rosters that can compete for an NCAA tournament appearance — Cincinnati and Wichita State are clearly a cut above the rest of this conference. The Bearcats were picked to win the conference in the preseason coaches’ poll, while the Shockers are ranked No. 7 in the national preseason Associated Press poll. UC hosts Wichita State on Feb. 18, and they travel to Wichita State’s home in Kansas on March 4 for the final game of the season — one that could decide who claims the conference crown. "Comment

Daum’s numbers were already ridiculous last season as a redshirt sophomore. This season, Daum gets more national showcase games with road contests at Kansas, Ole Miss, Wichita State and Colorado. "UH basketball is one step closer to playing two games in 2018 at the Toyota Center after the UH-System Board of Regents voted Thursday to allow President and Chancellor Renu Khator to negotiate a contract for the games.
The Cougars are playing the entire 2017-18 season offsite as the newly renamed Fertitta Center continues construction. The majority of their home games will be played at H&PE Arena at Texas Southern University. But the possibility of playing at the Toyota Center should create interest around the team.
UH is proposing the team play the Wichita State Shockers on Jan. 20, 2018 and the UConn Huskies on March 4, 2018 at the Toyota Center, which is home to the Houston Rockets.
Chairman of the Board of Regents Tilman Fertitta purchased the Rockets in September from former owner and financier Les Alexander. Between the construction of the Fertitta Center and his new acquisition, Fertitta’s fingerprints are all over Houston basketball.
It seems fitting that the Cougars would come and play at Fertitta’s new home after he has put so much money and effort into UH Athletics. If Fertitta and the Rockets approve the Cougars right to play, then it will give fans an exciting experience when going to the games, as well as giving the athletes the experience of playing in an NBA arena.
The Wichita State Shockers, which joined the American Athletic Conference in April, are contenders to win the AAC championship in just their first season. The team is ranked No. 6 in the nation by the Associated Press and has made the NCAA Tournament for the last six seasons."

The currently undefeated Bears—who offed Wisconsin and Creighton last week in Kansas City—will be wrapping up a grueling portion of their early-season schedule after first traveling to Xavier on Tuesday. The Shockers, meanwhile, will have had just one tune-up (hosting Savannah State) in the 10 days since their late loss to Notre Dame in the finals of the Maui Invitational.
Aside from the sheer quality of the two teams, their styles of play offer an intriguing matchup. Wichita State’s early-season offense has often run through 6’8” Shaq Morris and 6’9” Darral Willis, who have taken the team’s largest portion of shots while on the floor (27.5% and 26.3%, respectively). But Baylor’s zone defense and 7-foot shot-blocking center Jo Lual-Acuil will make it hard to get the ball inside and do much while there. Expect the front-line battle to factor heavily."Comment
