I think Tulsa is always going to be a protected H/H due to the reasons mentioned.

I think whenever the AAC sits down to compare these teams they will have Tulsa ahead of Memphis anyways. There has been a mass exodus in Tiger land.

No intent of "divisional play" as in actually having divisions. The intent was to save travel cost and, probably, guarantee fan bases who are close to each other always having the H/A setup.

I would also doubt the "matrix" would be totally based on the previous season. I would think they would also look at who and how many key players were lost and what level of recruiting class is coming in. Coaching changes might also be considered.

This was the language used in the 2014 Press Release for AAC Conference Schedule:

“We are very pleased with the schedule format we have put together for the 2014-15 season,” said Aresco at The American’s annual meetings. “We took into consideration rivalries, marquee match-ups (television appeal) and geographical and travel considerations."

Who has divisions anymore besides the MAC and OVC? They've basically disappeared with the arrival of conference tournaments. You no longer need actual divisions. However, this has nothing to do with playing a combination of regional play with matrix play, particularly when considering a conference spread over just more than half the US. Again, I'm just stating what I thought I read on the AAC board. I really don't know what they'll do.

I thought about that, too. I checked their recent RPI's and it goes something like 200, 200, 230, 260, 300, 320 over the last 6 seasons. It's pretty bad. I mean, it's not any worse than what we got used to in the MVC, but you are right...it's buy-game material, and that's not really what I would want from them. I would have liked to schedule a H-H for the first two seasons in the AAC, just as an act of solidarity and fun, but looking at the RPI numbers, it's more comparable to when people say we should start our walk-ons on senior night. There's a good argument for it on the fun/emotional side, but competitively, it's not a good idea.

I'd still schedule the H-H, though. But that's why I don't have the job of scheduling and never should.

Navy's problem is that really tall sailors and ships don't go together all that well so its hard to recruit quality size. I'm only 6'3" and had to duck going through hatches or risk losing large chunks of my scalp, it would suck to be 6'7" plus on a ship and that goes double for a sub.

Looks like we might just join the B12 for the non-conference. I'm all for it though! Hopefully that's it for true road games next season. Would still like to see a marquee game at a neutral site. The rest need to be at CKA.

Come on Gregg!! Just get John to schedule that UK series!!

Every time the two teams play, it's made for TV!! Plus, it would make KU look weaker than they already do for not playing WSU!!

Plus, get Frank on the phone and play SC!! Then, WSU can punk both in-state schools!!
