I like Dan Muller. I like the "chop wood" mantra. As for him recruiting thugs and being a *****? Well, when Turg was trying to get WSU going he recruited a few questionable players, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Also, he is a *****, but he is the only ***** who didn't drag the Valley down this year (WSU excluded of course). We need a few more pricks to recruit decent players to this league IMO. Nice guys like Marty and Barry just aren't getting it done.

        • WSU officially the 3rd biggest miss by the bracketmatrix as a whole.

          Team ... Projected ... Actual
          South Carolina ... 8.95 ... 7
          Wisconsin ... 6.11 ... 8
          WSU ... 8.31 ... 10

I'm pissed because this shows that despite having to overcome the albatross around their necks that is the MVC to build a body of work that almost everyone who knows college basketball agrees makes them a top 25 team, they are always going to be rewarded with overcoming that handicap by being handicapped again in the tourney. It shows that next year's team, which should be a top 10 team, probably better go undefeated if they want a chance of being seeded like a top 10 team. It shows that chances are very good that one of these years WSU will get to eventually claim the title of "Biggest Tourney Snub of All-Time". And it makes it damn hard to argue that Marshall has a better chance of winning a title here than at any random P5 also-ran school.

Can we please get into the AAC? I will buy season tickets to USF and give them to the most rabid Bulls fan they can find. I will send my kids to school at ECU. I'll drive a bus full of Tulsa fans to the AAC tournament every year. Name your price.
if you are driving a bus of Tulsa fans to a tournament it better come equipped with oxygen and defib's because s lot of their fans make ours look like young uns

So they are 85 instead of 75?

The problem is not the opponents WSU is lined up to face this year, but rather, the "yet again" snub that shows WSU is apparently going to get the shaft almost every year. In the future, falling 3 seeds (7 vs 10) won't be so meaningless. Next year, deserving a 4 and getting a 7 would really suck.
I'll disagree about the opponents. What's the biggest rub that many non-power conference teams have? They get under-seeded because of their schedule and not having a conference full of better teams to prove their worthiness, which is needed, because the power conferences will duck playing those quality teams in the non-con for who they view to be a less threat, but reasonable RPI.

Non-power conferences teams should be not have to play other non-power conference teams in the first round. It's a lose-lose. You win, they'll just say, "so, you beat another non-power conference team". You lose and they say "see, you weren't really that good". You have 7 non-power conferences teams within the 6-11 seeds (the #2-8 teams after Gonzaga). There are 24 seed spots or 12 matchups yet 4 of those 7 non-power teams are playing each other. The top 2 are the #1 and #2 teams of the 6 seeds, both conveniently just outside the 5 seed that would match them up with 1) an easier first opponent and 2) a 4 and not a 3 in the next round should they get there.

Dayton is a 7 seed yet VCU and RI are 10 and 11 seeds. Just how could RI be that much different than Dayton. Heck, RI beat Cincinnati in the non-con, had the strongest OOC-SOS and best OOC RPI of these 3 and won the Atl-10 tourney and VCU finished 1st in the league and went to the tourney final.

If these teams are fairly seeded, placed against power conferences teams, and all lose there should be no gripe from anyone.

I feel the Cuse was the sacrificial lamb this year to divert eyes away from the non-power team screw job.

                • A Redbird fan here. Good luck to the Shockers in the NCAA. We kind of feel like we got hosed and also that a 10 seed for you guys is ridiculous. Beat Dayton and then get some revenge vs Kentucky. We'll hopefully make a run in the NIT. Screw the NCAA.

Was hoping you would get in. Your a very good team. Win the NIT!

I was a bit baffled by this as well. To my knowledge, Tuesday First Four winners have always played on Thursday, with Wednesday First Four winners playing on Friday. This has to be the worst organized NCAA Tournament by far. I'm glad all 3 Kansas teams are in, but I'm not glad that they all 3 might play at around the same time on Friday if the Cats win. Totally garbage. This committee was a flat out joke, and I'd love to tweet them and tell them that.

IF the Shox do join the AAC, I hope Gregg and Dan can reconcile their differences and schedule a H/H.

They may not like each other too terribly much, but that's probably because they are more alike than they aware different.

                        • While we are having our absence makes the heart grow fonder moment with Muller, I will also note than in an article about their "7" plane crash, it noted that along with Lee wearing the coach's shoes that Muller wears some of his suits. This may explain some of the ill fitting getups he wears, in which I have mocked him with glee.

Or is it "absinthe makes the heart grow fonder?"

Thanks. Good luck to your team. I wish they used the "first four" game as a way to let teams like Illinois State prove themselves. I mean, we know who K-State and Wake are...mediocre. But maybe that's just my bias coming through.

                            • Q: Why use university administrators to seed the tournament? Shouldn't the first step of fixing this garbage be to dump the university administrators?

Yes, but they would also have to change the directives. They are using the "wins against x RPI team" and "losses against x RPI team" model of selecting and seeding. Well that would be all good if there was a balanced and fair scheduling practice in the NCAA, but it's just the opposite. It's rigged against all but 5 or 6 conferences, and until they change how they select and seed, we will always get the same results. Garbage in garbage out as they say in the coding world.
