    WSU stats for the tournament

"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Has anyone heard anything about Shamet's leg? He was gimping a little in the ISUr game, and the trainer was looking at his calf. Just a cramp or something, I hope!

Mcduffie 40 points in 70 mins and Willis 32 points in 37 minutes. That's just crazy.

Willis put up some really good numbers in limited action. 7th in minutes but 3rd in scoring, 1st in FG%, 1st in blocks and 1st in rebounds. He's primed for a breakout year next year.

He's primed for success in the NCAA tournament.

"Willis can only go left" is now bullet item 23 on the scouting report.

Shamet's line for a "poor" shooting stretch is pretty good, too, 8 to 3 Assist/Turnover ratio with 3 steals and 2 blocks.

              McDuffie with 6 steals.

I love the "give the people what they want" quote. I know Gregg likes having his pre-game speeches shown during the NCAA tournament and I hope he uses that quote throughout our title run.

Not just 32 points in 37 minutes from Willis, but also 21 rebounds to lead the team. Some guys play 37 minutes a game; how many of them get 32 and 21? Maybe that's also why he doesn't pass it back out as well as some of WSU's bigs do -- the ball sticks to his hands.

Not trying to be a downer, but 2 concerning things really stick out.

                        1) We averaged only 9 assists per game to go along with 10.67 turnovers per game. In fact, we had more TOs than assists in each game.

                        2) 2 point shooting sucked after taking Morris and Willis out. Those 2 were 19-34 /.559, however the rest of the team was 25-82 /.305.

10 TO per game is mostly fine (and actually less than the 11/game we average), and according to multiple people (including Mike Kennedy) the official score keepers in STL were stingy with assists all weekend.
Watching the games it certainly did not feel like we were passing the ball poorly.

The good news is that Frankamp can put up 20 points a game from creating his own shot and not giving anyone else an assist.

This is correct. If they passed the ball to a player on the block and the player made a spin move before guarding, that was not an assist. Basically, it had to be a pass to an open man that was already going up.

I remember Mike, Dave and Bob talking after the game in the post game coverage that it seemed like the valley stat person wasn't given out many assists so that could be part of the low assist numbers.
