I thought they were going to move to the Sun Belt - then when all that FBS money started rolling in from their TV and bowl games, they'd be flush with funds.

If they're going to cut $750K from their athletic budget, they're either going to have to further decimate basketball and football, or give up enough non-revenue sports to have to drop to D2. The more logical thing to do would be to drop football - within 2 years of remodeling their stadium. Sucks to be them.

Seeking some shockernet wisdom... what is the best driving route to Springfield from ICT? We did the route that google maps suggests - 400E past Parsons, down to 96 in MO - the first time we went, and a good chunk of the road in MO was pretty crappy. Have done 54E to 13S since then - the roads are better, but it takes about 30 minutes longer. Haven't tried the southern route on 166 to 44. Thanks in advance.

Fastest way is 400 to 171 to MM (north of Joplin) to 96 east to Springfield. Some roads especially MM to 96 are bad. However it is much shorter. This is what I take.

Try this: Take 400 all the way east to the junction where 400 turns south and 160 goes north to Pittsburg. Cross the junction and continue straight east on 171. 171 will curve to the south/southeast and continue to MO 96 and turn east. Continue on 96 towards Carthage turning south on I 49 down to I 44 east. This route is also just 4 hours.
