    STL Anniversary

Believe it or not, this will be my 20th straight year.
It all started with WSU and the Randy Rowdies losing to 1-27 Drake when a dude named Lynnrick Rogers when nuts and hit shots from every corner of the arena.
The ShockRef Mentor, as he liked to be known, went and had to listen to my long winded explanation how the first game would be a blow out due to Drake being the worst team in America.
It was, to put it mildly, embarrassing.

2014 was obviously fun, but there have been a whole lot of somber trips back I-70. However, it is still a good time and I will continue to pump much American currency into the STL economy every year.

    That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

This will be my 12th or 13th year. After last year I swore I wouldn't go this year, but here I go for another beating.

Pretty sure that was '97. So, that would make this #21. I know because that was the brother and my maiden trip as well. Remember it well, last game on Friday night, Shocks lose, we get a cheap motel by the airport on the way out of town then eat breakfast early and drive back to Doodah still pissed. Good times!
Anyway, last year was the 1st I've missed since that fateful night and don't plan on going back, screw the Lou.

At least we've all suffered together. That's what has made it worth it every year.

            ShockTown,
Your math is correct - 21 in a row.
I've had good times there every year, despite being subjected to some really bad games.
After all, there is always The Hill for Italian dining. Hodaks has the best damn chicken in the Midwest and Pappy's BBQ is quite tasty.
I've met some really nice people from all schools. Met some idiots too, most of which were wearing blue.

Witnessed some really good players, with the 'O" Show from ISU being top notch. Dougie was really impressive and although many did not like him, Jake from InSU was savvy as any player I remember.

            That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

First time we went was the Turgeon era; we lost to Creighton. At that time the championship game was on Monday night. We didn't go again until the 1.9 second fiasco--Creighton again! We have been every year since, and have experienced some long miserable drives home, with only one victory. It's time to win again. I do enjoy waving to all the other Shockers on the Ks. turnpike and l-70.
