Increased construction costs and budgetary concerns have led Missouri State officials to formally withdraw as host of the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, University officials confirmed Wednesday.

They really are having financial issues if they can't get their facilities updated in two years for an event they actively wanted to host.
A lot of class from 'Bolt:

"Our entire conference, coaches and student-athletes, were looking forward to competing at Missouri State," said Steve Rainbolt, Wichita State head track and field coach. "I feel bad for Missouri State's student-athletes and coaches that they are not able to host, and at the same time, we always enjoy the opportunity to host conference championships at Wichita State."

Absolutely, Wheat -- The reason WSU basketball is what it is these days is Gregg Marshall; and a big part of the reason Marshall is still here (along with, admittedly, the "can't buy happy; coach where you're loved" philosophy he so wisely adopted years ago) is because WSU can afford to pay him $3 million a year. They couldn't do that if they had football to pay for (certainly FBS football, and quite possibly even quality FCS football) -- there's just no way, unless Charles Koch were to fund his salary personally.

The major prognosticators are once again unanimous, in favor of the Shockers in the "Roundhouse":

        Nolan +21.0
        Massey +17.0
        RPI Forecast +18.7
        Sagarin +23.0
        Vegas +18.0

I'll go with the unanimous verdict and take WSU by 20:

        Hillbilly U. - 63
        Shockers - 83

Man, all of this obsession over Muller's physique and his fashion sense. NTTIAWWT. I applaud all of you though. Cannot be easy to express views like that in the middle of nowhere Kansas. Good on you all.

As for the game, still like MSU +18. Al Michaels does too I bet.

I have to give you credit though. Our alleged obsession over Muller's fashion sense doesn't hold a candle to your obsession with ShockerNet and all things Wichita State. Most people don't wear envy well but you do a great job of it.

You know, I actually enjoy some facets of the Ozarks, but when you're from there it pretty much negates any ability whatsoever to talk geographic smack.

To say nothing for the obvious fact that metro Wichita is significantly larger than metro Springfield. So if Wichita is "middle of nowhere", how exactly do we best describe Springpatch?

So apparently Lusks contract has a clause that if MSU reaches the NCAA tourney, he gets the option to extend for 5 years with a 1.85 million buy out. So with that clause, they could enter Arch Madness at 0-31, get hot for 4 games and get a contract extension with a 4-32 record on the year. Who approved that?

Your school is poor and totally f***ed.

How do you like those apples?

Talk about setting the bar low.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Doesn't this clause mean the Shocks might be ahead to let MSU win the tournament, so they are stuck with Lusk for 5 more years with a larger buyout than anyone is ever likely to pay? Eliminates one Valley team from ever really competing for at least 5 more years.

If anything, I'd rather these schools get better. But they just aren't capable. Misery State will still be mediocre at best with whatever coach they choose next.
